Poor Vision for Future

Pros

Being part of the work that WV does around the world. Great co-workers

Cons

Salary could be better. In the past year severe cuts to personal; WV is being run like a corporation as CEO is a corporate guy not an INGO person. He has hired additional corporate people and have severed several top level executives that had decades of experience. There is no clear vision for the future of WV. I am afraid if they continue to cut the wrong people WV will not last much longer. Kevin Jenkins really does not have a clear vision but loves to have his picture taken with heads of state and people like the Pope; he seems to be self-serving.

Pros

Great programming and evidence of impact. People care about the mission. Great retirement benefits.

Cons

Difficult to grow in your career or get promotions (though this somewhat depends on your manager). Excludes LGBTQ+ Christians in hiring. Diversity and inclusion work is entirely volunteer based, relying on employees who aren’t trained to do this work to solve the org’s issues without providing any paid staff support. Christian identity primarily manifests through an American evangelical lens, rather than a holistic expression of all Christian walks. Struggles to find the balance between doing what is right vs appeasing the donors (often the latter wins when it comes to issues closer to the US).
