Pros

I enjoyed working with the offenders in corrections. I had fabulous coworkers minus the management. The nursing is diverse and interesting.

Cons

At our facility there was zero communication between the entity that is Corizon and our front line staff. We were routinely bullied by toxic management and ignored which lead to 10 long term nurses some of them had been there for years pursuing opportunity elsewhere in 3 months time. We were told to protect the relationship with the DOC at a cost to patient wellbeing and wellfare.

YesCare Response

When you reference the entity that is Corizon Health and our front line staff, I am unsure if you are referencing your immediate management team or the Healthcare Support Team, so I will respond on the basis of your immediate management team. You are correct there should absolutely be communication between management and staff. We regularly stress that communication is key. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am unsure where you called to report a discrimination claim, however a call of that nature should be routed to the Human Resources department or to the Director Operations over the site. A follow up call should be placed if a name/number was provided for a return call. Many times callers call in anonymously thus not enabling us to provide a follow up call. As far as staffing, we feel confident in our staffing matrices based on our 30 plus years’ experience at over 400 facilities. Each contract has a contracted staffing plan based on the RFP, should either the client or Corizon Health see a concern with the staffing plan they may make a recommendation to make an adjustment. However, we do encourage staff to escalate their concerns to site management or even regional management if they feel a staffing change is warranted while keeping in mind that any change requires client approval. Thank you for your time and your feedback. Sincerely, Heather Dale, Employee Relations Specialist

Pros

they pay on time and have good benefits

Cons

Terrible leadership beginning with the CEO. Corporate arrogance. It honestly feels like the exec staff is embarrassed to be in the "blue collar" business. Promotion is not based on clinical results, financial results or client satisfaction but who your friends are and who likes you. The corporate staff do NOT want to be challenged or disagreed with.

Pros

Money's ok, PRN and shift diffs are decent. They do hire new grads. Always need people and shifts are available most of the time. Great for a side job.

Cons

Bad management makes it easy for the bad seeds to keep on trucking. If you don't have thick skin and can't learn to play te game, this place can break you.
