Pros

ZRT is a family owned and operated business dedicated to not only patients, providers and researchers working with the company, but also the employees that represent ZRT. They provide opportunities for employees to learn and grow with the company, and provide generous benefits and bonuses. ZRT is not owned by VC money, and it shows. They are transparent about structure and pay, and their focus is working as a team to provide one of the most unique healthcare solutions in the world. The business is built from the ground up over 25 years, and ZRT is considered the industry leader in at-home sample collection and innovative testing. ZRT is well respected locally, domestically and globally through their dedication to clinical and research testing.

Cons

ZRT was not able to host in-person meetings during COVID times to protect essential in-person workers, which was a deviation from normalcy that has now returned. The rapid growth and interest in at-home collection and testing during this time period was difficult maintain, but a lot of improvements came from it. ZRT saw higher turnover than normal during 2021 and 2022, which was frustrating for a high-complexity laboratory that requires extensive training, but this was a widespread problem throughout the entire healthcare industry that seems to have improved significantly.

Pros

Good benefits, they attempt to create a positive work environment (however it’s all a farce)

Cons

Company hides behind their good benefits as an excuse to pay their employees as little as possible, especially those in CS who do SO much for the company. They laid off 20% of their work force when pandemic hit, with promises to rehire those individuals, however none of the individuals were hired back when the company began rehiring. They also asked those employees to sign a waiver stating they wouldn’t pursue litigation against ZRT in exchange for keeping their health insurance another few months - which I am very sure is not legal however anyone they had laid off wouldn’t be in a position to pursue litigation regardless. Crooks, not the good company they pretend to be.

ZRT Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We have made great strides within the last year to improve our overall compensation profile, including those for our valued customer service team. Early in the pandemic we had to make the very difficult decision to lay off some of our staff. Those who were laid off were offered severance and the continuation of medical benefits. Luckily in a short period of time we were able to rehire some employees, and we also continued to hire additional staff back as we were able. The ZRT leadership team is focused on continuing to improve our company culture as well as fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. As with any organization, we continue to learn and grow, and appreciate your suggestions on how we can do better.
