Pros

-Opportunity to learn how to manage many aspects of various positions in a single "job." -Opportunity to learn to operate outside of "conventional" processes to force project completion. -Some flexibility in working remotely, position dependent of course.

Cons

-Lack of performance review processes, requiring employees to hound not only their immediate supervisor, but ensuring discussions further up the chain of command actually happen. -Isn't doing the work of many people fun? From the product side of the house, having to hold the hands of those who work downstream and upstream in the workflow is a total waste of time, because of course, there's still my work to be done as well. -Seemingly every review here on Glassdoor mentions compensation. Certainly a trend I've experienced first hand and heard about from just about every coworker I have worked with in my tenure at the company. -Business attitude is expected of course, meaning doing as much as possible as inexpensively as possible. That's how business should work of course, but the "little people," myself included, have to constantly evaluate how long we can tolerate conditions at Zayo before we begin actively looking for other opportunities. Fortunately for Zayo, the nature of the economy works remarkably well in their favor.

Thanks for the review. I agree with most of your points, and I understand the comment about changes could be faster. One of the recurring comments is about 401K match. I don't have anything definitive at this moment, but this isn't falling on deaf ears. Stay tuned. Tranzact was conceived of only recently and is already having a profound effect on business processes and workflow. Product groups (which I assume is your role) have a vehicle in which they can dramatically reduce their need to hold hands. Getting data populated and accurate is key, as is fine tuning the product process. I know from ample feedback that Tranzact is making a difference. Compensation: the management equity pool is in-the-money by a lot. When this is factored into compensation, many of our employees will be enjoying very lucrative comp. I know it is hard to factor this in before it becomes real -- but it must be considered as part of equation. I also know not everyone participates. The quarterly bonus program is also an important factor. Note: we are a low cost provider of bandwidth -- so we need to be focused on finding the right balance for compensation. I've been at companies where this got out of control -- and everyone suffers down the road. We are a meritocracy. Hence, across the board raises at certain calendar cycles is not in our DNA. We are constantly reviewing those who are making a big difference and treating them on a regular basis. Feel free to email me and we can talk directly.

Pros

Most people are good to work with. The location is a plus. Near major shopping areas. Paycheck and med benefits to pay the bills. Close to lunch places and coffee runs.

Cons

Lead by the second coming. Take negative reviews seriously about culture and management. Obsession with percentage rate should tell you about both.

I take all the reviews seriously. I learn just as much from the positive ones as I do from the negative ones. I pay special attention to those which are well written and balanced. I encourage my senior team to do likewise, and we encourage all employees to do so. I am passionate about building a great company that persists for years and decades. I am confident in our team and the vast majority of my colleagues.
