Pros

- Product is best in class - easy to use, reliable - People are generally nice

Cons

- Inexperienced leaders - favor people who agree with them, bad behaviour is unadressed while strong performers are expected to pick up the slack - Reactive environment - no strategy, planning or prioritization, last minute decisions, constant chaos - Speed over quality - pushed to deliver quickly instead of correctly - Poor work/life balance - meetings scheduled all hours of the day, chat heavy culture - responses expected immediately, constant fire drills - Below market compensation - salaries and benefits not competitive, increases frozen, benefits and company bonus slashed - Return to office - forced to go into office even though Zoom’s product is based on connecting remotely, only two weeks notice to comply, no consideration for financial or personal burden - Struggling culture - no budget for team building, a lot of surveying but no action taken on feedback

Pros

Great product, in fact, best on the market. Zoom has amazing benefits and tons of perks in the office. There are some great, integral people here at Zoom to work with. I consider many people on my team friends. CEO genuinely cares and listens to his employees.

Cons

I'm afraid this culture has shifted in a negative way over the past year and a half. There are way too many salespeople - upper management is starting to notice, and doing drastic things to get people out. There aren't real territories carved out, unless you're in a higher segment. It seems that the lower segments are at the bottom of the totem pole in the organization. There is a lot of hostility among salespeople that include cheating, stealing accounts/reports, etc. Zoom is growing so fast that we have SO many tools, which comes with a growing company. The only path to promotion is hitting your number - if you don't hit, you can kiss your chances of promoting goodbye.

Sinking ship

Pros

Coworkers are genuinely kind and helpful. Interesting problems to work on. Solid pay and benefits.

Cons

I wanted to work at Zoom because of its great culture. Sadly, that culture has been completely eroded over the past few years, punctuated by endless layoffs and toxic management. Decisions are based on ego-driven opinions rather than data or research. Eric and other leaders have failed to articulate a coherent strategy ("AI-First is NOT a strategy). Despite the ambiguity, they hold product teams to an unrealistic standard, constantly micro-managing decisions, expecting perfection while pressuring employees to ship more work at a faster pace. The result is a toxic culture of finger-pointing where leaders put employees under a microscope, blaming them for every perceived flaw rather than taking accountability for the process they created. Managers are highly political, often acting as mouthpieces and enforcers for leadership, rather than empowering their teams and supporting career development. I have genuinely never felt so discouraged in my career.
