Pros

Innovation at Scale: Zoom is a pioneer in real-time communication technology, driving breakthroughs in video conferencing, AI-powered features (e.g., noise cancellation, virtual backgrounds), and collaborative tools. Working here means contributing to products used by billions, with a direct impact on global work patterns. Global & Inclusive Culture: With teams across continents, Zoom fosters a diverse, English-first environment that encourages cross-cultural collaboration. This exposure to international projects and perspectives is invaluable for professional growth.

Cons

Post-Pandemic Growth Pressure: After explosive growth during the pandemic, Zoom faces intense competition from Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, and other collaboration tools. This can lead to shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and pressure to deliver new features quickly to maintain market share. Cross-Timezone Challenges: Global team collaboration often means early or late meetings to align with colleagues in different regions, which can disrupt work-life balance and lead to fatigue for engineers based in non-core time zones.

Thanks for your feedback. It’s helpful to note that the 2-day return to office model offers some structure while maintaining flexibility. Coordinating across global teams can present challenges, especially with time zone differences, and your input underscores the importance of balancing collaboration with sustainable work hours.

Pros

Good Pay and benefits. They treat you like a dog and if they like you, it can be nice since they will toss you a bone frequently. If you are ok with that and not getting your hands too messy, this place is perfect. Learn simplified chinese, it will help a lot.

Cons

If you are american, they treat you like second class. The companies software engineering force is all of the of the Hangzhou & Hefei offices. They move key individuals from these offices to operate in the United States on strictly chinese speaking teams. These teams are the ones the interface between the china offices & americas. All American National employees are just a front. Its two fold, they chinese employees work a 996 and they need some of these employees with the same work culture in the americas to move things along the way they work. Its a typical eastern work culture. If you are an american you will experience culture shock. Watch "American Factory" if you want to understand the work culture more. You need to move fast in an eastern sense. A western mind wont be able to compete. I place all this in the cons because they show they are an american company when they are not.
