Unfortunate leadership, lack of purpose, great employees

Pros

ZOZI has great dogs in the office, solid snacks and perks, and you don't have to put in exhausting hours like some start ups. It provides a comfortable place to work if you want to get by and have chill, not-overly-rewarding days. The people who work there are incredible and fun.

Cons

ZOZI on the whole has been a several-year-long example of what NOT to do—both in running a business and handling professional relationships. The company has very little unity and internal communication, making ordinary tasks often take months to complete and new projects very difficult to initiate. They consistently glide by putting band-aids on issues that arise by cutting corners, building upon older platforms and complicating processes. The leadership is shaky and untrustworthy, dodging in and out of the office often appeasing staff with vague, mysterious comments, and rumors spread like wildfire there due to the laughable lack of transparency from leadership on very basic things, like funding, goals, KPIs, and more. My experience here let me do fun things outside of work and have decent, not-too-hard days at work. This is good for certain times in life, but with so little transparency, it's difficult to feel any sort of attachment to the company or sense of purpose.

Pros

To begin, ZOZI is a great product and easy to get excited about. Travel, fitness, outdoors, getaways, etc. are things most people enjoy. Having the ability to say you work at a company that sells those experience (B2C side of the business,zozi.com) and also promotes SMB create unlimited rental and booking experiences through our software (B2B side,zozi.com/advance) is pretty great. Not to mention, as a benefit, you get credits to spend toward the activites. Other benefits include onsite yoga and massages, DOGS in the office (you can take your dog to work with you!), bikes to take out during lunch or on an errand, a patio, snacks/beverages in the kitchen, a gym membership, cell phone plan, as well as other health, 401k, etc. The culture coalition also meets weekly to plan different activities every month like happy hours, catered lunches, ice skating, hot chocolate bar, halloween costume contest, white elephant gift exchange, volunteering events, paint and sip, etc. They take suggestions from the employees as well! The people here are also very diverse and outgoing. The interests are varied (many are into half marathons, hiking, traveling, camping but other interests include surfing, diving, biking, soccer, climbing... you get the idea) Everyone does have one thing in common, though. They live the brand and they love animals, especially dogs. Overall, there is a great energy in the office and it comes from a team excited to work toward a common goal.

Cons

We do not have all the benefits in the world (no full meals served or laundry service for example) but I believe that is due to our size. Our office is also a bit difficult to get to in terms of public transportation and parking. It also is in a very touristy area so in the summertime, it can be very crowded in the area and surrounding restaurants/shops are expensive. We also do not have a ton of private meeting rooms BUT that is being addressed. They are working on remodeling the office as we speak so that could change.

Pros

Great people. Concept has strong potential. Solid platform. Good partnerships. Great UI and design.

Cons

Many hired to impress investors, not necessarily for their ability to directly influence the company/brand. True to start-up culture, hard to retain employees.
