Terrible management and overall culture

Pros

Company offers catered lunch sometimes and has group rides but nothing other startups don’t offer. It’s well financed by investors.

Cons

The management lacks direction and does not understand how to develop good company culture. They have consistently hired underqualified VPs which they end up having to pay a severance to when they fire them, yet they keep repeating the same mistakes. Zero transparency - claim to care about employeee feedback but consistently ignores it when received. Just laid off 1/3 of company for no reason, certainly not for lack of funding - claims they want diversity and thinks they can achieve it by laying off mostly males. Shows how little they care about their employees. Morale is at all time low, zero motivation, EEs want to leave, just difficult time to find a new gig. Work here if you want to be managed by a bunch of people at the top who have no clue what they’re doing!

Total Mess

Pros

They'll pay you a decent wage (but pathetic benefits due to a lack of a real HR department)

Cons

Of the 5 top level employees recently laid off, 4 had uprooted their families to move to the LA and London areas for Zwift within the past 3 years. No promotions within the company, unless you're a white male, ex-pro cyclist. Total chaos. 24/7 work culture Total lack of HR.

Pros

Zwift is filled with some of the most brilliant and capable individuals. There is exceptional talent at this company across all teams and levels. The game product itself is quite good (despite its flaws), and I can get behind the company's mission of "more people, more active, more often." It feels "cooler" than working at many other companies, even within tech.

Cons

The company is in a constant state of nonstop change and utter chaos. Be ready for things to always be in flux. Zwift has had four layoffs in less than five years. Each layoff comes with a new group of leadership with its own priorities. It feels pointless to be invested in anything at this company as strategies, projects, goals, etc. change on a whim. As the company continues to downsize, career downsizing is more common than career growth. Zwift is always looking to cut costs so benefits have been drastically reduced over the years. Diversity is touted as a company core value, but it's an old boy's club for the most part. If you're not in the inner circle, leadership sees you as dispensable and irrelevant.
