Outbound sales of cruise and resort packages to clients of brands we represent
Pros
So far so good. Been there about 5 weeks and the management is very competent. From what I've seen the leaders are previously successful salespersons and can lead by example. To my surprise, it was soon obvious why each person was hired- many diverse and talented individuals. The hours are great (32.5) with the opportunity to work up to 40 if you chose. The commission structure appears to be fair however it is too early to tell since everyone is still very green. Daily spiffs and small prizes- enough to keep moral up but not really improve a paycheck.
Cons
Not really an account manager position. When you burn through leads there is no realistic idea that you will ever speak with the same customer again. So far only about 15% of the people working have really taken off and are on their way to a good salary( 65k+). Another 70% are improving so time will tell if the big picture leads to long term profitability. As with all phone sales, it can lead to frustration but the short hours seem to really help with rough days.
