No flexible working hours

Pros

Fancy coffee and drink machines.

Cons

Management at iHerb is old school and overly corporate for such a small company. There are international projects and obviously, having international work means there are time zone differences. It's required to stay late in the office to make sure requirements and development issues are addressed to allow for seamless hand-off for the international team's day. The problem is there is a hard requirement for all employees to be in the office at 9am, or there will be repercussions during performance reviews, but although regular hours are until 6pm, international work means regularly having to stay much later in the night. It would be expected that management would understand that there should be some work life balance and flexibility in hours to allow the obvious schedule change for a later start in the morning to have a flexible work schedule, as long as the work gets done. This is not the case at iHerb. Management's stance is that "This could set a bad precedent and would encourage employees to start coming in tardy." "Work life balance" and flexible hours is nonexistent here.

Thank you for feedback as we grow internationally there is going to be a learning curve of how to appropriately work cross functionally amongst different time zones. We are already taking into consideration what working with an international team looks like and how it can benefit everyone involved.

Pros

They do work with you when it comes to asking time off and using your PTO.

Cons

Management does nothing to help you advice in this company. If you are doing poorly in one area they never sit down with you and find a way to help you improve. They just hammer you and tell you what a horrible job you are doing. They are not fair and favor other employees over you. There is no support and no positive recognition when you do a good job.

Working Toilets A game room no one uses because the CEO will get upset Elevators Offices desks floors chairs lights expired snacks

Cons

Your tenure at this company is likely to last around a year. You can look up the average tenure and previous employees on LinkedIn to confirm this. They have a history of letting go of employees right before giving them their bonus, which is usually around January or February. The CEO is a micromanaging and controlling individual who does not exhibit the qualities of an effective leader. For example, I once spent two hours with him reviewing and approving designs for decisions on white space usage. The following week, he had me come back to the meeting and contradicted his earlier decision. This type of behavior is disruptive and demoralizing to the staff, and it undermines the CEO's credibility. It is possible that you will be asked to take on new projects or features, not because of your exceptional performance, but because other employees have left or been terminated. This could be seen as setting you up for failure. iHerb offers a variety of communication channels, including Asana, email, and Jira. Users should be prepared to receive the same message across multiple platforms. It is always gratifying to see others succeed, but it is concerning when someone is promoted four levels above their actual ability. This person has demonstrated a lack of communication skills with other leaders and has failed to manage her assigned product managers effectively. Additionally, a previous review mentioned that she is likely to sabotage others' work, which is a serious concern. There are no black or brown minorities in positions of leadership at all The CEO would frequently inquire about how emails are searched in Gmail. You read that right, he didn't like the search function in Gmail inbox and how it worked LOL. That's like asking someone to fix how YouTube plays videos. It was very amusing to receive multiple messages and spend hours trying to explain to him in simple terms that it is not our responsibility to fix it (because we don't own that) without him losing his cool. having to do quiet releases behind leaderships back without other parts of leadership finding out was WILD. The CEO hired a family member in another country for product management team. They have ZERO business acumen and no product experience at all. Must be nice to join nepotism and not do any real work The Chief Digital Experience Officer (c-suite) was too busy caring if your logged in google chat light was on, or wondering why you didnt respond in a few seconds to FULLY understand her incompetence in the scope of product and technology. Watch out, she has her little "friends" in marketing and her pet in product so tread lightly with what you say you will not be enabled to create new strategies or roadmaps. all goals and work is dictated from the top down. Just do what they say and smile, no matter how moronic or counter intuitive to customer need. Your job is to execute and not strategize layoffs and restructuring every few months
