Our 2026 signature events season kicked off with the Tour de Cure in Arizona on Valentine's Day! Hundreds of people showed up at Goodyear Ballpark to support this great event. Megyn Byrnes, our Executive Director in the Chicago area, was recently interviewed on Fox32 Chicago talking about our local Tour de Cure fundraising event and the fight to end diabetes. The Chicagoland Tour de Cure took place on August 9 under blue skies and with tons of energy and enthusiasm from our riders and supporters. More Tour de Cures and Step Out Walks are coming very soon over the next few months. Big congrats to ADA Executive Director (West PA) Chelsea Musial for being a Pittsburgh Business Times 2025 Woman of Influence! Always pushing the envelope with new ideas in her work AND living with type 1 diabetes since age 5 AND going through two pregnancies while managing her diabetes, Chelsea is truly an inspiration. Here she is with her team:

The fourth annual New Orleans Kiss a Pig gala was held on Saturday, July 26. Hundreds of guests, including CEO Chuck Henderson, enjoyed an evening of dinner, dancing, live entertainment, auctions and the infamous pig kissing ceremony. The black-tie event honors the role pigs played in diabetes treatment. All proceeds from the gala support the ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Each year, industry leaders unite to celebrate the candidates who have been raising funds throughout the year for diabetes research. Ten candidates are selected to participate in the event. Each candidate runs a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, and the top fundraiser earns the privilege of kissing a pig at the event. This year’s top fundraiser was Todd Jabbia of Walmart. The 2025 mission speaker was Dr. Brantlee McConaughey, a senior fellow in Pediatric Endocrinology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He volunteers in the local community and spends time as part of the medical staff for diabetes camp.
