FTI president Jose Hidalgo recently sat down with Blythe Alspaugh of the Dayton Business Journal to talk about a few recent business milestones and what's ahead for FTI in 2024.
There are over 4 million breast cancer survivors living in the U.S. This year, FTI's Care to Hope campaign raised $4,760 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. and our employees sent 154 Hope Kits and 91 Words of Hope letters to patients. We will keep raising awareness and providing support for breast cancer fighters until this disease is defeated for good.
FTI partnered with The Honor Foundation yesterday to conduct mock job interviews with service members transitioning out of the Special Operations Forces Community, which includes U.S. Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders, Green Berets, Army Rangers and more. Our own Dr. Bob Bergman and Gregg Weber know a thing or two about the transition to the private sector, having both served in the Navy before bringing their talent to FTI. We're honored to help soon-to-be-veterans transition to the civilian workforce.
At FTI, we recognize the importance of cultivating talent in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Through our Lavon Jordan Scholarship and Internship Programs, we help students excel in STEM majors and provide them with hands-on, real-world experience. We also partner with the Colorado School of Mines to coordinate red and blue teaming exercises. We look forward to creating even more opportunities for STEM professionals to grow, innovate and inspire.
We're proud to continue our partnership with the Ability Center of Virginia as they help children and adults with disabilities lead productive, happy lives. FTI works alongside the center throughout the year, and was recently a sponsor at their annual golf tournament to raise awareness for this amazing cause.
Old Dominion University turns out for Cyber! Over 200 students attended the school's Cyber Intern Job Fair last week. There was a constant crowd around FTI's booth, staffed by Michael Morey, Pamela Keenan Imler, and our current ODU cyber interns - Cole Baty and Grace Sandhofer-Adams. Michael also spoke to students about how to develop a career in Cyber during Old Dominion's CyberOps conference over the weekend. We can't wait to see all these bright young minds make their mark on the industry.
Our Human Resources leadership team attended the Gartner's Reimagine HR Conference last week to learn about the latest insights and strategies on the future of work. At FTI, all employees have accessible internal development opportunities—whether their role is serving a customer directly or through a function like HR. Our commitment to continuous learning is just one part of how employees can own and grow their career journeys. Our HR team is excited to put the lessons from this event into practice and live up to our reputation as one of the industry's best places to work.
We're working hard so our new Operational Research Bridge for Innovation & Technology (ORBIT) will be among the most state-of-the-art secure facilities in the U.S. FTI plans to add over 200 jobs to help support this 46,000-square-foot space. Special thanks to the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC and the city of Colorado Springs for their partnership with this expansion.
FTI's Brian C. Benz, MBA, PMP, Jason Meeker and Michael Morey visited Christopher Newport University on Thursday to speak to over 200 students in the Department of Physics, Computer Science and Engineering. Amazing to see so much passion and initiative from the next generation of STEM talent!
Before General Lester Lyles was on FTI's Board of Directors, he served in the United States Air Force for 36 years. His roles included Director of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and Commander of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC). Our country is safer thanks to his steadfast leadership and unmatched military acumen. We're thrilled to congratulate General Lyles on his induction into the Ohio Department of Veterans Services 2023 Hall of Fame! This honor couldn't be more deserved.
