The project “West Half – Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Design” earned an Honor Award in this year’s competition, placing it in the top 16 projects submitted. The project “MD 355 at West Old Baltimore Road Intersection Improvements” was also awarded a Merit Award at the ceremony. Congratulations to all staff and project partners involved in these great projects! On being awarded the Honor Award for West Half, Matthew Steiner, PE, LEED AP®, Project Manager, commented, “Century is honored to have contributed to this award-winning LEED Gold® certified project. As a Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Board Member, and member of both the DBIA College of Fellows and DBIA National Mentoring Committees, Bill Hasbrook FDBIA, MEMS, TCFM, Vice President and Client Account Manager in Kleinfelder’s Austin, Texas office, participated in the Student Member Program at the recent annual Design-Build Conference & Expo. The program facilitates mentorship opportunities for members of DBIA. “While we touched on a variety of aspects in the engineering profession, the majority of the discussion focused on what the students can expect once they’re in the ‘real world’ regarding design-build from both a design and construction perspective,” explained Bill. “We covered salary expectations, the value of working as a team in a truly integrated fashion, and real-world examples of design-build done both right and wrong.” Learn more about Kleinfelder’s mentorship and career development programs - http://ow.ly/eO0s50LXv10

We work with a pretty great team, including Tom! Kleinfelder’s Thomas Grimm, PE recently gave us some insight into his position as Geotechnical Program Manager. Tom is based out of Kleinfelder’s Tampa, Florida office, and has more than 25 years of experience in the engineering services industry. How do you describe what you do to family and friends? I say I am a problem solver for our clients which includes Mines, Industrial operators, and other engineers. We help by providing engineering, professional support, and quality assurance through design and construction. What has been your favorite project to work on at Kleinfelder? I would say our Commercial Warehouse projects. They have afforded us the opportunity to start up two new labs and develop some great talent in Florida. I also love getting out on project sites during construction to work through challenges with clients and contractors. Interested in working with a great team?
