Happy Juneteenth! 🖤 Wrapping up the celebrations, let's take a look at the events held by Miro's Black Excellence ERG. 🛼 Last week the Austin crew of around 40 Mironeers gathered at a local skating rink for a Skate Party. Roller skating is a cherished tradition in the Black community as roller skating rinks provided a safe and inclusive gathering space during times of segregation and a form of artistic expression and joy. During the event, we also played the documentary "United Skates" about the African-American underground skating culture. 🍷 Los Angeles-based Mironeers had a great time at 1010 Wines, a Black-woman-owned wine bar in Inglewood. Mironeers shared the "All Black Everything" tasting, a curated wine selection from black-owned companies. Winemaking is a historically non-diverse industry, so we wanted to highlight and celebrate how Black winemakers are breaking barriers and fostering economic empowerment. 🤝 Juneteenth is an important symbol of the end of slavery. It serves as a reminder of the African American experience and ongoing pursuit of freedom and equal rights for all Americans.
46 cross-functional teams, 37 pitches, 9 participating hub cities, 3 days. Miro held our 10th annual Hackathon in February 2023. With an underwater theme, participants were invited to seek the "iceberg problem" hiding below the surface and hack the unknown. 🤿 The projects had to face three points of judging criteria: 🐠 Impact - Does it demonstrate business value? What's the feasibility to launch? 🐠 Technical merit - Do you have a working prototype? Are you pushing the limits? 🐠 Creativity and Originality - Is is simple? Original? Creative? After 36 hours' worth of hacking and a lot of pizza, our panel of 8 judges - led by our CEO, Andrey K. - selected 6 winners. 🏆 Check out the video recap of the event.
