Today POET Founder & CEO Jeff Broin took the stage at #ELC23 to speak with Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor about the #biofuels industry’s history, its bright future, & current opportunities – an inspiring conversation between 2 great leaders!
Meet our first #PeopleOfPOET feature: Gene Reiser, Business Assurance & Review Director at POET! "My role here at POET is really all about helping team members live the “Never Satisfied” mantra. Helping people find ways to continually improve upon processes, procedures, and anything they work with on a day to day basis, including themselves. I grew up on a ranch in Northeast Nebraska and have always had strong ties with the agriculture industry. I worked in a few different ag-related roles before coming to POET. The part of POET that really intrigues me is the vision and mission statement with how we work to connect the Earth and humankind. I think it’s one of the best vision statements I’ve ever seen with any company." Do you live a life of being never satisfied? See our career opportunities at poet.com/careers.
35 years ago, POET came to life and began our tradition of using unrelenting passion, big ambition, and uncommon vision to change the world. 35 years later, we're proud to be a leader in the sustainable energy industry. Our world-class team continues to turn big ideas into 3 billion gallons of biofuels and a growing suite of bioproducts at our 33 bioprocessing facilities across the Midwest. It's been an extraordinary 35 years of cultivating a brighter future — and we're just getting started.
POET began on a family farm in the 1980s and currently partners with more than 40,000 farmers across the country. Since day one, we've operated on the belief that we can get everything we need from the surface of the Earth rather than drilling to its center. The next time you need to fuel up your vehicle, consider choosing lower-carbon, American-made biofuels. It's a win-win-win for you, for agriculture, and for our planet. 🌽 Learn more at poet.com/sustainability
“I often say we need to leave a better world for our children and grandchildren, and I do believe the work we’ve done at POET has already done a lot of good. But after 35 years, I still feel as though we’re just getting started.” –Jeff Broin, POET Founder & CEO This year, POET is proud to celebrate our 35th anniversary. Click to read an exclusive interview with Jeff Broin as he details the company's storied history, from our humble origins on a family farm to becoming a world leader in bioprocessing.
“Successful agriculture is key to solving the world's most pressing issues, including climate change, poverty, hunger, and disease. I doubt another industry can say it can attack all of those.” –Doug Berven, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for POET With opportunities ahead for the expanded use of biofuel through E15 and continued needs for low-carbon liquid fuel, the benefits farmers provide for the world — and the value they get for doing so — are ready to grow. 34 years ago, Mayor Kloucek of Scotland, SD presented POET (which, at the time, consisted of a single bioprocessing facility known as Broin Enterprises, Inc.) Founder & CEO Jeff Broin with a key to the city in celebration of the new bioethanol plant and its commitment to clean-burning, renewable fuel. 🔑 Today that plant has 33 counterparts scattered across 8 states, with a combined annual production capacity of 3 billion gallons — and the key still resides at POET headquarters in Sioux Falls. Here's to many more years of growth, innovation, and biofuels!
In the short time that POET has been operating out of Iowa Falls, the plant has hand-delivered more than 100 Thanksgiving meals to the local community, conducted a winter clothing drive for grade school students, and supported events with the local fire department, Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Association, and the Lion’s Club. From the plant’s involvement in the community to its objective to become a world-class biofuel operation, the team at Iowa Falls offers an excellent example of the One POET spirit. Ohio is one of the top corn producers in the country and is the seventh-largest supplier of biofuel in the U.S. Forty percent of the over 580 million bushels produced is supplying seven bioethanol plants across the state, three of which are POET facilities. The demand bioethanol has created for Ohio corn has also kept prices high for a bushel. We were proud to host WTOL 11 at POET Bioprocessing – Leipsic for a chance to learn more about how biofuels impact Ohio! Click to hear more from General Manager Ken Miceli.
