At POET, Earth Day holds great importance. Over the past three decades, we have grown from a single, humble bioprocessing facility in Scotland, South Dakota, to one of the world's largest producers of biofuels and bioproducts. We’re passionate about preserving our planet, protecting the air we breathe and solving global issues surrounding agriculture, human health, and the environment. This Earth Week, POET team members across our footprint participated in community clean-ups, tree plantings, and more Earth-friendly activities! Pictured are team members from POET’s headquarters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that joined in a litter clean-up. The POET volunteers picked up 1,950 pounds of trash and recyclables! Recently, POET Biorefining – Marion (Ohio) hit a huge milestone of achieving 100% of its energy reduction goal! The plant participates in NRG Energy demand response, a coordinated effort to reduce energy use during peak hours, so there is plenty of energy for families and businesses across the country. The program is about putting your neighbors first, a gesture that helps balance the grid and ensures there is enough energy for everybody. Congratulations, Marion team!
