In case you missed it: Watch POET Founder & CEO Jeff Broin on RFD-TV's Rural America Live as he shares the story of POET — and how we’re using power of the sun, soil, and seed to impact everything from rural economics to climate change. https://vimeo.com/811011878/f2cd5cacfb
Meet our next #PeopleOfPOET feature: Suzanne Anderson, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at POET! "I’ve been practicing law for 32 years; I knew I wanted to be an attorney at a young age. When I was in middle school, I participated in a mock trial, which I really enjoyed. It was then that I decided I wanted to go to law school. The emphasis on environmentalism and the focus on making the world a better and cleaner place for future generations is one of the reasons I love POET’s mission. I know the work we are doing on carbon sequestration and other methods to reduce our CO2 footprint will have a very positive impact both on the environment and to POET as a leader in the industry. I am excited that the work I am doing today will last beyond the time I am with the company." Do you want to have an impact on the environmental issues of the world? Last summer Ashna Patel, undergrad student at the University of Pennsylvania and 2021 POET Never Satisfied Scholar, reached out to several organizations to help raise funds to repair the Bwiam General Hospital in the Gambian community of Bambara as part of her student internship. One of those organizations was POET. The project happened to align perfectly with the mission of Seeds of Change, the international nonprofit founded by Jeff and Tammie Broin, and the organization funded the project in full. The full-circle partnership is one of the biggest development projects the Bambara community has seen in a decade and will serve thousands of individuals each year. It's also an example of how, when we come together, we can truly change the world. Learn more in the latest issue of Vital!
Meet our next #PeopleOfPOET feature: Berit Foss, Director of Sustainability at POET! "I think one of the coolest things about POET is the mission to create valuable products out of something as simple as corn. There’s so much diversification that can happen and there’s just so much potential for what we can do that the research team can build and leverage. I think that’s the coolest thing that the potential is so high here to do more and create more from something from the Earth. It’s pretty unique that we can innovate from something so simple. In the next three to five years I hope to be helping fine tune our renewable solutions in my role as the Director of Sustainability and help solve some of the issues that our industry is facing today." At POET, our mission is to utilize the sun, the soil, and the seed to cultivate a brighter world for future generations — and we do that by harnessing the power of agriculture. Agriculture is the world's original art form, and farmers are its composers. They are the unsung heroes of our daily lives; the original innovators; the poets that create harmony between human and nature in every season. Thank you, farmers, for feeding and fueling the world. On this National Ag Day, we celebrate you.
