Last Thursday was National Intern Day! 🎉 To celebrate, we hosted our interns for a lunch & learn with our leadership team. Great food and conversation - the perfect way to thank them for choosing to spend their summer with The GIANT Company! Later in the day, the interns headed to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, where they packed 400 meal boxes for seniors in under two hours. Our summer 2024 interns have been crushing it, and we can't wait for what's next: project presentations and graduation!
As part of our Changing Children's Lives campaign, our teams have had so much fun hosting Miracle Kids and their families for in-store scavenger hunts over the past few weeks! The kiddos visited different departments, met team members, and filled their bags with fun swag. The smiles say it all! Help us support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals by rounding up at the register from now through August 31. All donations help provide critical care and services, fund groundbreaking research, and purchase life-saving medical equipment. Together, we can hashtag#ChangeKidsHealth!
What a fun day of connecting, growing, and learning. The GIANT Company’s 2024 Learning Summit brought together 300+ team members to engage in authentic conversations about effective leadership and a caring culture. Special thanks to our speakers Bryant T. Marks, Ph.D. and Disney Institute for sharing experience, insight, and inspiration with our team, and to all of our team members who took to the stage! hashtag#GIANT2024LearningSummit hashtag#LearningTogether hashtag#WinningTogether
Last week, in partnership with Geisinger and Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Inc. (CSO), we unveiled a new mobile food pantry ready to serve individuals and families facing food insecurity in Pennsylvania's Central Susquehanna Valley. “Food insecurity impacts every neighborhood and can have serious implications for individuals and communities. That’s why we work with local hunger relief partners and support initiatives such as this new mobile food pantry to help eliminate hunger in the communities we serve,” said Nick Koch, head of wellbeing, The GIANT Company. “This innovative solution brings fresh, healthy food directly to families that need it the most but may lack the transportation necessary to visit a traditional pantry.” The mobile pantry will provide fresh produce, dairy, meat, and shelf-stable pantry items. In its first two distributions in late June, the mobile pantry helped 175 individuals. For more information or to view the schedule for the mobile food pantry, visit www.csocares.org.
Bring Your Child to Work Day at The GIANT Company Support Office was entertaining, to say the least. As part of the kids' full day of fun activities, we asked them on camera what their parent does at GIANT. Check out a few of their responses. 😂

Earlier this month, we gathered our store managers and store employment associates—the people charged with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding team members—in our support office for our first-ever Talent Sync. During the session, we introduced new tools, did some role-playing, and shared best practices to ensure everyone joining The GIANT Company team, no matter their role or work location, has the best experience possible, setting them up for success from interview to day one and throughout their orientation. Thanks to the entire talent and culture team, especially our presenters, for creating such a resource-rich day of learning!
Rise and shine! ☀ It’s time for a brand new Meet the Team Member Monday. Today we’re introducing you to Charlotte Scheid, MEd, RD, LDN, registered dietitian at The GIANT Company since 2019. Charlotte’s passion for nutrition sprouted during her previous career in corporate wellness in central Pennsylvania. From there, she decided to go back to school to earn a degree in nutritional sciences from Penn State University – she says it’s one of the best decisions she’s made. As a registered dietitian, Charlotte is involved with developing and delivering nutrition education for customers and team members. She says, “I spend a lot of time growing our virtual presence through social media, writing wellbeing content for GIANT’s Savory magazine and nutrition blogs, and working on commercial health and wellbeing initiatives.” Having a career so involved with what’s on the table, Charlotte shares, “I enjoy guiding customers towards healthier options and helping them think differently when it comes to their nutrition. I want them to know that creating better-for-you meals can be easy, affordable, and taste great. It is nice to hear success stories from customers and their appreciation for our dietitian program.” We’re lucky to have you on our team, Charlotte! Thank you for helping our team members, customers, and communities find balance and live healthier lifestyles.
