She is always an awesome trainer, providing really quality training materials, checking in about anything unusual, and communicating different groups' needs. We are so thrilled to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week at Valley Apr. 16-22, 2023. Our volunteers are goodwill ambassadors, spreading hope and cheer, and providing vital assistance for our patients and visitors. They are a treasured part of our Valley family, contributing the most important of all ingredients—love and concern for people. Volunteers serve as greeters at the Main and Surgical Information Desk, operate the volunteer shuttle, work in the gift shop and clinics all across Valley. Supplementing the services performed by our staff, volunteers are an integral part of our healthcare team and valuable contributors who provide special added touches that make a patient or visitor's time at Valley more comfortable. This week, and all year long, we invite you to show your appreciation for the time and talents these community members share with us—as we work together to care for our community like family.

Celebrate National Nutrition Month with the Clinical Nutrition team at Valley! This year's theme is Fuel for the Future. Every day at Valley, our inpatient clinical team is Vital* to helping our patients fuel for the future. This can be through supporting those at risk for malnutrition by providing supplementation or Pivoting* to set up patients unable to eat enough orally to receive enteral or parenteral nutrition. Some of the lesser-known ways our team Ensures* patients are on the path to success include: * Recommending micro-nutrient supplementation to meet intake needs * Balancing hydration needs for those patients receiving nutrition support, helping keep lab values within normal limits * Educating patients about lifestyle changes to help manage chronic or newly diagnosed conditions—along with referring to Lifestyle Medicine for continued outpatient nutrition therapy Thank a registered dietitian today—or better yet, recognize them on Registered Dietitian Day, Mar. 8!
