Congratulations to Lisa Bernasconi, an admitting registrar in our Emergency Department and one of Valley's November 2022 Heroes! See what her teammates have to say: "Lisa is a TRUE team member. During one of our recent shifts together (during the morning when it was just Lisa and I in the back registering and one other registrar at front check-in, Lisa handled all the registrations as they popped up for discharge, ALONG WITH arriving ambulances and medics, so that I could spend an extended amount of time assisting a patient with her registration by utilizing AMN interpretation services. This registration included full new patient data collection, explanation of our financial policies and procedures, printing everything that could be printed out in the patient's language of preference, and collection of their full ED estimate. I could not have completed this registration without the help of the team and Lisa ALWAYS EXEMPLIFIES a wonderful team spirit. "

Never missing an opportunity to reinvent herself and lead with a big heart, Donelle is equally passionate about putting the hard work into being a dedicated parent—Donelle is proud to watch her boys succeed as they grow. Baseball is part of that equation too, as Donelle loves every aspect of the sport, from Little League to the pros. And at any event where there is the cartoon board to put a head in the hole for a photo op, Donelle is right there for a big smile, picture and a laugh.
Celebrating Nurse Practitioner Week, Nov. 13-19 We want to recognize the many contributions and dedication of our nurse practitioners during National Nurse Practitioner Week. For more than half a century, nurse practitioners (NPs) have been leading the charge to reduce health disparities and ensure that high-quality, person-centered health care is readily accessible to people in communities nationwide. NPs continue rising to meet the needs of patients — by pursuing the advanced education and clinical training required to become an NP, by completing countless hours of continuing education (CE) throughout their careers and by increasing patients' access to quality care. NPs practice in primary, acute, specialty and long-term care settings; via telehealth; and in mobile clinics — meeting patients where the need is greatest. With a focus on health maintenance and disease prevention, NPs play a key role in filling the growing demand for chronic, mental health and primary care.

Congratulations to Amy Steers, ARNP, a provider in our Valley Women's Healthcare, Time Square Clinic and our October 2022 Provider of the Month! See what her colleagues had to say: "Amy was part of the midwifery team that started at Valley in September 2006. Throughout the years, she has remained at VMC as a dedicated, committed and exceptional employee/midwife/provider. Her patients love her because she is straightforward and honest, yet has an empathetic communication style. She always puts their needs first and will step forward and volunteer to cover a clinic or call if someone is ill. This has been especially evident during the last few years when the loss of our clinic, our director, and some of our midwives made trying to cover the schedule very difficult. Amy not only filled most of the extra call shifts, she stepped up to take on some of the administrative roles as well. She is admired, trusted and genuinely liked by the midwives, doctors and nurses who work with her. She is a treasure of a human being .

Recently I asked Jaimon for help with a referral audit. "Over the last year he has worked to quickly familiarize himself to his new role as a QA specialist, he has exceeded our expectations for how quickly he became comfortable with his new work. He is a pleasure to work with, always a positive and energetic presence on our team"

A Huge Shout of Thanks to Our Pharmacy Teams During National Pharmacy Week National Pharmacy Week acknowledges the invaluable contributions that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians make to patient care; and recognizes the important role they have in educating patients and promoting safe and effective use of medications. Pharmacists are medication experts who ensure successful prescribing and use of today's complex medications and medication regimens. The direct involvement of pharmacists in patient care helps to reduce unnecessary costs and burden on the health system. Pharmacy technicians are the backbone of any pharmacy as they are directly responsible for safely preparing and delivering medications, making operations more efficient and supporting the work of the pharmacists on a day to day basis.
