I applied online. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer in Oct 2024
Interview
Passed the initial assessment stages for clothes & home, got offered an interview. That was all fine and dandy, the lady I had was lovely and I made sure to have a good chat with her to push the fact that I can talk to people haha.
Two weeks later, after hearing nothing, I get a call from a different department (same store) offering me a job. I did miss the call, and had a right faff calling back as had to go through 4 different people to reach the right person - the first AI filter hung up on me because I phrased what I had called up for wrong!
Anyway, I finally got through and was offered a job by a lovely guy. Cool! Finally felt happy and satisfied. Was told a week later approx would be when the offer / contract gets sent through over email. Two weeks later… nothing. One of my potential start dates is next week, and I am supposed to go for an induction in another city before that!
So, I have the choice of going through the hassle of chasing them up again which isn’t appealing because if this is how they treat someone they are offering a job to, how do they treat employees? Other choice is waiting for the official offer / contract to finally come through (if I even still have the job that is… chances are it’s been given to someone else this entire time…) It’s a shame, because the store and staff did seem like a nice place and great people.

I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (London, England)
Interview
The interview process was very straightforward, professional, and welcoming. It started with a brief introduction about the store's values and the expectations for the role, followed by a one-on-one conversation with the manager. We mainly discussed my previous experience, my flexibility for shifts, and how I would handle different customer service scenarios on the shop floor. It felt more like a friendly conversation than a rigid formal interrogation, which made me feel very comfortable.
