Mission We Are Affable The foundation of our care is built on the relationships between the care team and our patients. From the first smile at the front-desk to the compassion shown by our outstanding nursing staff, it is our goal to provide our patients with an environment that is trusting, compassionate, and caring at every step and with every encounter.
We Are Available With locations across Iowa, we’re able to provide cancer patients with premium care in their own backyard. We are available 24/7, and we promise you will always connect with a person — not a computer.
We Are Able We are a carefully constructed ensemble of board-certified oncology Physicians and caregivers dedicated to providing oncology and hematology services that rival any community oncology practice in the country.
Description Before 1981, there was a vast disparity in cancer and blood disorder treatments in Iowa. To receive proper care, patients and their loved ones were forced to add traveling and lodging to an already stressful and expensive journey.
To answer the call, four visionary physicians joined forces to create Medical Oncology & Hematology Associates. Every physician in the State of Iowa came to refer to our group as MOHA.
Physicians knew they could refer patients to MOHA and knew their patients would be seen immediately and would be cared for in the best of hands. Over time, MOHA became a trusted partner to all and set the standard of not only being immediately available but for also forming foundational relationships with patient and physicians alike. This culture still drives our every move — the delivery of compassionate care to those suffering from cancer or blood disorders with an urgency that matches their condition.
We are proud partners with the major health systems in central Iowa, including MercyOne, Unity Point, and the Iowa Clinic, as well as over 20 surrounding outreach hospitals. The care teams at Mission Cancer + Blood are made up of physicians and advanced practice providers that have been trained in the treatment at nationally recognized programs.
We believe it is our calling and “mission” to uplift patients and their loved ones with hope, compassion and evidence-based treatments on their journey to remission, recovery or an enhanced quality of life.
Simply put, we’re transforming the aging experience so people live longer, healthier lives. By focusing on each person’s abilities and strengths–rather than their limitations–we believe we can impact the healthspan of older adults.
Ignited by a passion to inspire older adults to live healthy, meaningful lives, we reach out with our ministries which include: independent and assisted living, rehabilitation, memory support and services including home care, adult day, home-delivered meals, hospice and transportation.
As a nonprofit organization guided by Christian compassion, we were founded more than 70 years ago as a place for aging Methodist ministers and their spouses to call home. Today, our services touch more than 12,000 older adults in Iowa annually being delivered by 1,800 part- and full-time passionate team members throughout the state with a focus on creating healthier and longer lives.
