Pros

The culture is great and the tools used are modern which makes it a great place to take a step in your career.

Cons

The leadership and decision-making has been mediocre and due to this there has been significant changes. The business is losing partners so there is a lot of uncertainty for long term career potential.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that our culture- and more importantly, the people who make it are pretty great too! AIR MILES has recently undergone significant changes as we look at how to best position ourselves for future success. We understand that change is difficult and can cause uncertainty because it takes time before you start to see positive affects from it. With that said, we feel confident that our new strategy and structure and hope our Associates are excited about the future of AIR MILES. Career development and training remain crucial to our culture as well as our goal of remaining one of Canada’s Best Employer for Young People, and Best Employers for Today’s Youth. While we continue to focus in this area, we’re leveraging feedback from our Associates captured from our annual Associate Engagement Survey to better understand how we can improve and take action against that feedback. Our quarterly talent routines between Human Resources and Leadership ensure we’re always focusing on ways to grow and develop our Associates in an effort to help their reach their greatest potential at AIR MILES. Thanks for sharing and all the best. Dimitri Benak VP, People and Culture

Thanks for the review and for your contribution to the company for over five years. Our Associates certainly are kind and considerate – I’m so glad that was your experience as well and that you also enjoyed our work-life balance, annual performance bonus and other benefits. We take pride in offering these to our Associates. I’m sorry you feel the way you do about career development at AIR MILES. Developing our talent and providing opportunity for growth is important to us. We place a huge emphasis on internal development and always look to hire from within whenever possible. Last year we filled 60% of our positions with internal hires and promotions in an effort to help Associates advance their careers- a metric we’re really proud of. We also have a couple of important programs in place where Leaders carve out time dedicated toward performance and development conversations with their team such as 1-in-90s and Manager Once Removed conversations. Indeed, AIR MILES is going through profound change. We have a new executive team, strategy and overall structure and while these changes can be unsettling, I’m personally excited to see where they will take us and hope that our Associates are too. We’re embarking on a new chapter in the AIR MILES story but will always hold true to our values of accountability, transparency, collaboration and trust. I wish you all the best. Thanks for your perspective! Many of our current and past Associates value our work-life balance and flexible work arrangements; we’re glad you do as well- it’s something we’re very proud of. Our tech stack is something else we’ve invested in heavily over the past few years as we’ve seen our digital transformation come to life. We still have some work to do in this area, but I think the advancements we’ve made, paired with our new strategy, will set us up well for success. To your point, AIR MILES has undergone a lot of change recently. While I understand that some of these changes are tough, they also present opportunities. We are tackling new business challenges with an entrepreneurial spirit that encourages and enables Associates to bring their ideas to life. I wish you best of luck in the future.
