High Growth Company Evolving Quickly

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Values driven company that makes good decisions based on real data. High transparency on personnel, operations, and financial results. Leadership empowered to make decisions, execute plans and achieve results with highest regard for safety, security, and client confidentiality. Very competitive benefits and long term focus on personal development and performance management.

Cons

Company is growing fast and evolving to meet the new challenges of each different scale. New opportunities require constant attention to and addition of technical as well as leadership skills while still maintaining existing operational pace/quality (it's a stretch!).

I really love this review. Thank you for taking the time to get so specific and detailed in your review. Your detail on the pros is great (transparency, empowering, high regard for safety, client confidentiality, competitive benefits, focus of personal development and performance management) and I agree with all of them, although I know we always need to keep our pencils sharp to stay current on competitive wages and benefits - - and we will do so. I really appreciate your perspective on our ability to grow and pace ahead of our team and team’s bandwidth as we continue to grow the business at such a rapid pace. Investing in our team remains a priority, and this includes both developing existing team members and hiring the right new players on to the team. I know we don’t always get it right, especially since we are growing so, so fast, but let me share that I (very purposefully) strive to to find the right balance between stretched and optimal staffing levels. I don’t ever want to find ourselves over-staffed, as that would mean we might have to let team members go, which would be really lame for all involved, especially those being let go.. So, there is a fine balance here that I am pretty tuned into - - more so than most people might think - - and I will always err on the side of stretched instead of over-staffed. Please do feel free to contact me directly when you feel we are too stretched. If you have been here three years, you likely know me well enough to know that I would welcome the conversation. In regards to providing the opportunity to invest in the business and/or get equity in the business, I am very interested in providing this type of opportunity to as many team members as possible, but there are some significant challenges in doing so as a privately help and private equity-owned company. Regardless, I would love to learn more about your exact thinking here. Our conversation will remain confidential and it could pave the way for you and others to become equity holders (!), so please do reach out to me at ralston@accesscorp.com. Thanks, again, for such a great review – both content and rating. Keep REACHing, Rob

Business Outlook

Pros

Company Culture. Work/Life Balance. I would not doubt if our CEO knows every Market Leader, and above, by name. Career Opportunities. Travel. Management Style(No Micro Managing-may not be universal throughout the company). Annual Company Conference. Fun Environment. The People. Community Involvement. Respect, Empowerment, Accountability, Collaborate, Honesty

Cons

Out dated scanners for the Record Center and Transportation Specialist.

Thank you very much for the positive review here. I appreciate the feedback. Your list of Pros is awesome and brings a smile to my face. There are a lot of reasons why working at Access can be a great experience. I recognize, as you note, that not everyone's experience is the same (and, if you read some other reviews you can see that) and that is a bummer. We are working on it, though. Given our wide geographic spread and large number of facilities (150+) and operations (70+ cities across 7 countries), we are making significant investments in leadership training, so that we can elevate our game and improve everyone's experience here at Access. I am sorry to hear about the out-dated scanners and I am acutely aware of this issue. We should have caught this sooner, but please know that we have approved over $500k in additional spend this year to upgrade and update our scanners. There will be another big investment next year on this item, too. Plain and simple, we all need the right tools to get the job done, so this is an investment we are completely committed to getting right. Finally, I certainly do know a lot of our team members by name, including you! :) Thanks for investing the time to post this review. Keep REACHING, Rob

Thank you for investing your time to post this review. Your pros and cons make perfect sense to me. Yes, the work is challenging and the days can vary wildly given we are servicing over 20,000 clients and growing, on average, over 40% per year for the past 7 years, which also means it can be very rewarding when we get it right and exceed the expectations of our clients, company and community...and, we should always try to have fun. If we can't have some fun, we are doing something wrong. I also agree that these conditions can lead to a heavy work load, at times. I definitely have been a victim of the heavy work load at different times (just about daily, in fact), but I certainly aspire to create a great work/life integration here at Access. I am hopeful that team members are able to invest an appropriate amount of time in their personal lives, their career and their own development. I am hopeful that as we mature as an organization, our team is able to create a great balance here - and I fully support proper balance in this regard. Thanks for the advice to reevaluate the merit increase process. We just did that this year, but clearly it still needs more work - and this an area/item that will probably never be complete. I would imagine we will make adjustments here continually, but appreciate you bringing it up directly here. I also appreciate you bringing up compensation for the team. We realize that in certain places we are missing the mark on compensation vis-a-vis our compensation philosophy, which is to be an employer of choice. We continue to make market adjustments as we become aware of market changes and please know that this will also always be a moving target. I will share that I am confident with our leadership in human resources, total rewards and training and development, we will continue to add more value to our team members in compensation and beyond. Thank you again for your review and keep REACHING, Rob
