Pros

Great Benefits, 401K, and HSA Contributions

Cons

I have enjoyed many aspects of working here and have had the opportunity to work with great colleagues over the years. However, the culture has noticeably shifted, and many of the qualities that once made this company stand out seem to be fading. Work-life balance has steadily declined as more responsibilities continue to be added without reducing existing workloads. In my current role, it feels like only about 20% of my time is spent actually underwriting. The majority of my day is consumed by data entry, spreadsheets, and administrative tasks that take away from the work I was hired to do. The pace of organizational change has also become overwhelming. New processes, procedures, and initiatives are introduced so frequently that it is difficult to keep up, let alone master them before the next round of changes arrives. Many of these changes appear to be implemented without enough consideration for their long-term impact or the workload already carried by underwriting teams. Another disappointing shift has been the company's priorities. There seems to be less emphasis on building strong relationships with agents, which has always been one of the organization's greatest strengths. At the same time, there appears to be significant attention devoted to expanding the executive structure while employees on the front lines often feel overlooked. Recognition of the value employees bring and empathy for the challenges they face seem to be lacking.

Pros

Great benefits for health insurance and 401k

Cons

The culture of the company has steadily declined over the last 3 years as they shift from an employee focused culture promoting a work-life balance to a profits only culture. Developers input on estimates for project work are ignored or not sought at all that some employees are now being mandated to work overtime/weekends to complete work with unrealistic timelines. This truly used to be be the 'Best Place to Work' that you felt like you were part of a community, but no longer. If you're looking to be stressed and burnt out, apply for a job here.
