Pros

Aetna supports work at home which is an excellent benefit. They do tend to hire and promote from within which is also positive.

Cons

Although change is a good thing, Aetna has been changing at break neck speed the last 3 years which causes issues between departments that are in different places of the process. In addition, there are still managers that should not be in their position (Iack of experience, knowledge, etc). However, that tends to be common in large companies.

Pros

The convience of working from home and not having to report to the office. They also have a good PTO plan so you almost always have time available for vacation and personal issues.

Cons

Constant changes and everyone on a different sheet of paper. Management finds a new area of concentration and harp on getting that done and by the time you get acclimated to doing what they ask they change the policy to doing it a totally different way. The pay increases are based on your evaluation scores that you receive from your manager and they tend to score people that are in their clique high than a work that is actually performing at a higher performance level.

Pros

They provide you with excellent training for your job. You are definately not just thrown into your job and asked to do something that you have no idea how to do. I think that this is a great place to gain experience for someone who is just coming out of school.

Cons

The sales field has free regin to do whatever they please. We waste excessive amounts of time working on dead end projects because the sales field has their heads in the clouds. They are disengaged in the proposal until the day that it is due and then expect you to jump through hoops for them. If you dont drink the Aetna "kool-aid" watch out.
