Not worth the heartache

Pros

Colleagues are fantastic. A lot of them are brilliant. Has the potential to be a fantastic company from both a financial & cultural success perspective. But it feels like that’s drifting further & further away.

Cons

- awful work life balance. Expected to be available all hours, on weekends & on leave (sick & annual). And not “available in an emergency”. Like fully available. For BAU, because the business is so thinly spread. It’s not worth it. You can see the potential but it’s just not being realised. More & more good people are leaving.

Horrible Experience

Pros

Clean product and user friendly API coding compared to competition

Cons

The company is heavily plagued with politics and there are some pretty serious loopholes in compliance. The CEO and senior management has no respect to their employees and lacks the experience to manage a company with presence outside China resulting in an extremely toxic working environment.

Thank you for your positive feedback on our product. Given you are no longer a current employee of Airwallex and we are unable to gain context around your comments regarding politics, that piece of feedback can be difficult to address. However, we can confidently say that our compliance team works diligently to ensure our processes meet the highest standards. Airwallex is an Australian-born company and Australia's fastest growing fintech. Our management team is very proud of our growing team in Australia, as well as in overseas offices. We aim to foster an environment of respect for our entire team and are saddened if you did not feel this was reflected in your experience.

Mercurial management, unfair benefits

Pros

13 dollars foodpanda a day.

Cons

Quite unfair that SG employees are expected to work in office 5 days a week while other locations (US, EU, AU) have hybrid. Do they think people in singapore need to be micromanaged?

Thank you for your feedback. We understand the in-office setup is not for you. As a rapidly growing business, we've found that face-to-face collaboration, support, and feedback are key to employee success. Workplace policies vary by region based on local team needs and business requirements, and we're always evaluating how we work across our offices as the company evolves. We want our people to feel trusted, not micromanaged. We've been investing in giving teams more clarity through structured planning and OKRs so that people have the context to make good decisions closer to the work. If that's not your experience today, we want to hear about it. We value our customers, and if you're seeing gaps between our standards and what's happening in practice, that's something we'd want to understand better. We'd encourage you to raise these points directly with your manager or People team partner. Feedback like this is more actionable when we can dig into the specifics together.
