They are not bank and they only offer their internal mutual funds, which are mediocre at best, which makes for a extremely difficult sale. The image of the firm is antiquated, most professionals think of Bernstein as a firm for old retired people. They do not do any marketing or advertising. All of the above puts the firm at a disadvantage with other providers, Management seems to be “locked-in” in these old ways and not willing to acknowledge the reality of the market or address the limitations of the firm. They pay less than all the other competitors!
