      Pros

      Their frontline staff are dedicated individuals.

      Cons

      I like to think of AltaMed as a company that likes to fail from the top down. For a nonprofit, they are extremely lavish and wasteful in everything they do. From a headquarter perspective, I can say with confidence that they do shady things with donor money and stewardships. Their management is extremely unqualified and it shows. Just because you have been in a company for a long time doesn't mean you have the skill set to manage other, let alone make decisions that impact the outcomes of the organization. One of the worst places I've ever worked at.

      Pros

      Truly a mission-driven organization, they're growing quickly, are managed well financially and have lots of funding to do true community-based public health work. That's rare. Great, visionary CEO.

      Cons

      This place burns people out. The extremely changeable healthcare environment plus the nature of a rapidly growing non-profit with a mix of "old-school" and new leadership means you can hardly get your bearing before another big change happens. Some long time people seem to barely work while others are killing themselves working 60-70+/hour weeks. Not a lot of employee trust in some of the top brass.
