      Pros

      Altar'd State gave me some of the best moments, memories, and friendships I have ever had. The hours were good, the pay was good - considering it was a retail job, and I was able to grow into a higher position within a year of working there. It is a lot of hard work at times, especially during the Holidays and big sales and mark downs, but the people you work with and the guests you encounter make up for all the rough days! They push customer service as number one, which is how it should be. The upper, corporate management are some of the nicest and most genuine people you will meet and they look out for their employees and wants what is best for the company. My favorite thing of all, though, was getting to work with all the Mission Monday organizations and being able to give back to the community. Many retailers are doing that now days, but AS was one of the only retailers to really put it out there and expand on it and made it their real goal.

      Cons

      It could get overwhelming at times, like during the Holidays and big sales. We did not get out until two hours after the close of the store.

      The hours were good and they were accommodating to my schedule.

      The managers were very condescending and made going to work an overall negative experience.

      The company has great discounts for employees

      Cons

      Employees are required to stay two hours every night after close...meaning you don't get to go home until 11pm if your mall closes at 9pm. Very late for people who have to work another job or go to school in the morning.

      Thank you for your recent posting. We appreciate your service to our guests and team. As you know, it all starts and ends with the guest at Altar'd State. The two hour close, which is very common in customer-focused retailers, is in place so that associates can 100% focus on HER throughout the day - accessorizing, providing suggestions and solutions, and being there to listen. Other retailers that fold and unbox merchandise on their floors throughout the day to avoid replenishing and straightening the store after hours take away from the in-store experience and levels of guest service.
