Pros

Patients. Learn CMS, Oasis assessment, Case Management, keep up on your skills.

Cons

You will be pressured to work long hours, and chart off the clock. No overtime allowed and all overtime has to be pre-approved (good luck with that!). You will NEVER have a predictable schedule, because if an admit comes in, you have to do it and your previous commitments to patients fly out the window. The most common complaint I get from patients is "you said the nurse would see me on X day" and that's often impossible, because yet another admission came up and you had to move your commitment to that patient to another day. Of course, you cant share this with patients, but the number one priority is Admits, Admits, Admits and patient care takes a back seat. This company is focused on profits, profits, profits. If anything goes wrong, its always the Case Managers fault. New RN hires I've spoken with are already biding their time and not planning to stay once they acquire some case management experience. This is a good place to learn Case Management, but not to stay.

Pros

Base pay is fair...but I truly believe that is because they know they are asking all employees to compromise any resemblance of morals and values.

Cons

- Patient care will always come last when it comes to any way to cut corners to maximize revenue. - Corporate instructs us to implement a new and great "specialty track" at the very minimum quarterly knowing full well these tracks are a blatant lie and will never come to fruition in the way we are instructed to market them. -Highest turnover rate I've ever seen, not because of staff burnout but due to the employees utter shock at the lack of support at the corporate level when it comes to patient care. - Constantly misrepresenting the "bonus structure" to both the operations teams as well as the business development teams only to be denied when it's time pay due to the undisclosed fine print.

Pros

You can move up in the company but they promote people out of convenience for them that are not qualified. Not all people are meant to be managers and lead a team. The employees are good people and care but quickly realize the company cares more about profits and less is more when providing care to the patients. It’s sickening and sad! Seen when upper management would have a loved one on services and they would approve all the things to make the patient comfortable but deny these same requests for other patients! Hypocrites!

Cons

Amedisys will keep people in AVP/VP positions that should be terminated but they turn a blind eye to the serious complaints about them that should never be in these leadership positions! You will kill yourself and give them everything and more and for what? No loyalty. You will never get back precious time from your wife/kids when you get paid a salary and work over 60-70 hours every week. Hard lesson to learn so just figure out how much of your soul are you willing to give a company that cares more about their shareholders than their dedicated and compassionate employees and the patients and families they serve.
