Pros

Outstanding people who come to work everyday & give it their all for good leaders and some in spite of bad leaders. The Supervisory staffs in Base Maintenance put in untold hours where some are compensated, others are not - it is all so unclear when it comes to consistent policy and how it is enforced. My recognition goes to all those who "Do the right thing", but never gain recognition for it. I had the best staff I have ever managed in my 20 years of aviation leadership positions - diverse, dedicated & loyal to a leader who really cared. So, there were some good leaders and there remain some really bad ones - I hope, as a stock holder, they survive their own future.

Cons

My experience, as a Sr. Level Manager in Maintenance is that the middle management and floor staff work extremely hard to fulfill often unclear objectives. Sr. Level Management & Directors cannot work together as effective teams due to their philosophy of "I want you to do well, just not better than me." and this leads them to a culture of making themselves look good by minimalizing the work of their peers - a real sickness that sucks the life out of the middle & floor workers...too sad

Pros

Right now there are none.

Cons

Management is inept (Senior management not supervisory) hey come after employee salaries and benefits whenever they are in trouble while taking huge bonuses themselves. They rule by intimidation and fear. They like to pit work group against work group. They are ruthless against other airlines and careless with the people they hurt in the cities we pull out of. The flight attendant union is as inept as the management it supposedly goes against! Don't believe for a second that they have your best interest at heart. Don't know which I hate more the union or the management. They have taken away every bit of flexibility we had in this job. The new pay and rules which will soon be implemented will leave new hires working for less than minimum wage when you calculate the hours out in compared to the hours paid! DON'T DO IT! Flight Benefits are useless as our planes are full because they have cut so much capacity!

Pros

Travel Perks, Remote work, great team members

Cons

Wages are below national average. Very clique-y. Opportunities for promotions exist, but hiring managers are biased and tend to focus on awarding positions to their friends, even when they aren't qualified for the positions, especially here in DFW. Longevity and experience gained with the company do not matter when applying for jobs. Over the years, I was passed over for several promotions; positions were given to others with less or no experience or external applicants. After receiving my BA (while working with the company), I begun applying for open positions. Multiple interviews, no offers, and rejections for several positions for which I had the education and experience and met both the basic and preferred qualifications. To be specific, I applied for a position and interviewed with another person who had no experience. educational or job related - did not meet the qualifications. Guess what, the inexperienced person received the job.  After consulting my HRBP, I was advised to quit and reapply as my recently acquired BA will put me at the top of the preferred list. ended up being laid off.
