Pros

Flight Benefits on standby can go anywhere in the U.S for free. , Discounts of things like Hotels, Car, and home owners insurance, Can move to another state if you want to and have a job as long as its open.

Cons

Standby flight benefits first come first go. Yet you still get skipped by FA, Pilots, executives, and managers. Seniority you have a lot of dinosaurs who work here so if you want a decent schulde good luck. You could be waiting 15 years to get a decent schulde. VERY UNPROFFESNIAL , and MANGERS, DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. If you are a hard worker some while use that their advantage and just disappear while having you do their work for them. Or once your done with your job assignment some expect you to help them out with theirs. Union shop stewards like to blur out issues on current workers. Mangers DON'T care about how hard you work. You could never be late but call out somedays yet they want to make an example out of you especially if you are dealing with Ms Green at JFK. Uniforms you could basically wear whatever you want no one cares. Jackets you can wear whatever you want.

Pros

5.5% 401k matching, above average health benefits, and flight benefits

Cons

Aside from the normal benefits that most Fortune 500 companies provide to employees, American is par for the course. The office culture is both sterile and static. Pay is below average compared to market for most positions. Flight benefits get worse every 6 months. Long, hard working hours are a badge of honor. Incredible lack of cultural diversity (especially in executive leadership). It seems as if every progressive trend we see in the work place that's being adopted, American remains stagnant or moves in the opposite direction. This applies to remote work policies, caring for employees, and technology investments.

Pros

A consistent check every 2 weeks

Cons

You get occurences for even breathing wrong. Flying standby is an absolute joke. Management is horrible from top the bottom. They're the worst at handling FMLA paperwork
