Has potential, just not quite there

Pros

- Fully remote - There are some amazing people that work there - Work life balance is not bad. Some seasons are busier than others, but it’s not bad at all. - A half day on the work day preceding a federal holiday

Cons

- Disorganization, poorly constructed work flows, culture seems quite inviting upon hire, but can become quite catty down the line. I also experienced a lack of clear communication around vision / defined goals (may be just departmental, but this was my experience). Seems that there is a lot of confusion from leadership regarding processes and how new changes should be communicated to employees at large. Creates unnecessary confusion for employees that can affect the working environment. You may be told one thing one day regarding a work project, and then something completely different the next day regarding the same project. Instead of taking a holistic approach, things are often approached in a very fragmented/segmented way that can create a lot of loose ends that need to be urgently tied up down the line. Company says they are actively working on organizational and cultural challenges that they’ve had in the past (and that still persist). I hope that’s true. The pay is not that much different than any other non profit and the benefits are mid.

Pros

The ADA takes care of its employees. They have great vacation and benefits. Even after the recession they did not cut back on benefits for the employees.

Cons

The ADA does not necessarily pay as well as for-profit institutions , but there are great benefits to working there, including a real sense of purpose.
