Pros

Long-lasting company, Nice People, Good values

Cons

Rewards mediocrity, high standards with disproportionate pay, brags about benefits when they’re pretty standard, behind the times (old people at the top refuse to listen)

Pros

- Benefits. - Vacation time. - Good to start career but not to stay.

Cons

A lot of things are wrong in this company, but here are a few (each don't even cover the full extent of it either) - * Favoritism - it's REALLY bad, a lot of useless people get hired because they know someone but have no idea how to do their job. I have seen a lot of good employees get passed on promotions and those promotions given to people who should get fired but don't because they are friends or son/daughter of someone else in the company. These same people later on get lazy and eveyone else needs to cover for them (even more). It's frustrating. * Bad management - Too many lazy people and no one says anything. Amica over work their best workers while others just sit there doing basically nothing. * Company culture - it's bad. It's the "Amica Way" or the highway, even if it's wrong. This is not a place for forward thinking. It's very antiquated, among other things. * Tenure mentality - people who have been in the company for a lot of years usually have this mentality that they are untouchable. It's like they can do no wrong. They get lazy and a lot don't know how to use a computer that well or care to learn. * No accountability for bad employees. * They over work you without a salary change to reflect on new responsibilities. I was giving supervisor-like responsibilities and have been performing them for about a year and a couple of months now. Management is really happy with how I have handled things blah blah blah. I have asked for a salary/title change numerous times without anything hapening. Last time I was told I would have to wait 1 to 2 more years for it to go through but meanwhile I'm still to perform all supervisor-like responsibilities I was giving on top of all my regular job duties like I have been doing in the past year.......... I'm not the only one this has happened to either. This company is a joke. There are a lot more things wrong with Amica but I have already made this long enough. I'm planing on leaving within the year anyway.

Pros

Amica Mutual Insurance is a great company to its customers. The employees are always willing to go above and beyond for their policyholders. It is definitely a great thing to be a part of if you are placed in the right officer. Also depending on your officer, there are lots of opportunities for advancement within the company as they are strictly promote from within.

Cons

Amica is not consistent with their employees. I have often witnessed some employees get in trouble for having a certain amount of overdue activities while other employees with the same amount of overdue work are rewarded and given more management opportunities. The supervisors pick and choose which employees they want to help catch up (by stopping giving them assignments when they are overwhelmed with work) and which ones they do not (by giving them more assignments when they are behind). Advancement is not about your work but about who you know. The work load is completely unreasonable in some offices. They give you too much work and then treat you as though you are unintelligent for not being able to keep up. The supervisory staff in my office was arrogant at best. It was clear that they thought they were better than the adjusters in the office and were not afraid to act accordingly. Management was often aware of this and took little to no action. Some employees were clearly unafraid of consequences for their inappropriate actions.
