Pros

None unless you’re in the corporate office.

Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Micromanaged. Continued ignorance of reality from the Executive level. Upper level management continuously resists employee feedback. Forcing everyone back into to office to increase their daily expenses yet not responding to the post pandemic drastic increase of living costs. They felt that small, heavily taxed retention bonuses spread over time would help. However people just waited it out while slacking off in the meantime before quitting at the exact rates they were prior to the bonuses being offered. They very hastily and unnecessarily decided to reorganize the whole claims handling process and failed miserably. Between that and the fact that they allow adjusters and reps to be easily poached by other carriers, the employees left behind are just saddled with extra work and burnt out, with no additional compensation or perks. They COULD just the market rates, but instead want to tout their “generous” benefits plan as part of compensation. It’s literally the same exact copays and out of pocket deductible amounts as any job. Thankfully I was able to receive some assistance in the form of a covid relief check from the local government. It was sent because my income was recognized as within 80% of the local poverty level… How do you expect employees to provide elite customer service to clients in their times of need when the same employees are hanging by a thread of nerves wondering if they’ll be able to make rent or afford groceries under the current conditions.

Pros

During the covid lockdown we were allowed to work from home. For a job that's based around answering phone calls and using a computer, it made sense. Interaction Desktop was a useful tool that helped prepare for upcoming calls. We could see where the call came from, how long it had been in queue, etc. We spent two years working from home and we did a great job.

Cons

Now we're forced back into the office. Back to commuting, eating up more time each day sitting in traffic, spending more on gas and lunches. I can't tell why we were forced back in, since productivity and morale was higher when we could work from home. Interaction Desktop is gone too, replaced with Genesys Cloud. All the helpful information we used to get is gone now - it's just a blind phone call, no telling what's waiting on the other line. I'm sure it was cheaper, and probably gives managers more reports so they can micromanage the people that haven't quit in frustration. For a brief period of time Amica was a halfway modern company that trusted its employees to be adults and do the job they were paid for, and now we're back to being micromanaged and harassed daily to justify some middle manager's salary. No wonder there's such a brain drain. We're losing more each week, and no one wants to hire on to this kind of abuse.

As you are aware and also as a result of employee feedback, we recently moved to allow many positions the opportunity to work from home two days a week. We are concerned about some of the comments you shared about women and people of color at Amica and would like to speak with you about them. Please know that Amica fully supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging and we value individual differences and encourage employees to speak up and express their unique views to expand and strengthen our culture. Could you please reach out to us at employeefeedback@amica.com so we can discuss your experience further?

Pros

Amica still looks good on a resume. The only reason to work here is to gain industry experience then find something better.

Cons

I am joining others in leaving a review out of sheer frustration. No one with any power at Amica will listen, so all I can do is help warn others away. Company culture has become authoritarian. We have been asking for more work from home, and are told no, because culture. What does that mean anymore? I’m tired, burnt out, and at this point commuting feels like Amica is stealing money and time from me just because they can. Also it’s really cringe to see the bot replies to these posts - if we felt the company was listening or would do anything we wouldn’t be leaving reviews here.
