Pros
It was nice working with the students--they were very sweet, and they often looked forward to seeing you. When your students are doing well, it can be very rewarding.
Cons
After I had worked there for about a month, I realized that this program does not benefit a lot of the students. In order to meet with the students, you need to pull them out of another class, which can cause them to get behind. I had a student who was struggling in his regular math class, and I was not allowed to help him with his homework for his class because I had to follow the very specific Math Corps curriculum--that was the reason I quit. The program seems that it isn't done to benefit the students and aid them in succeeding in their regular curriculum, it only focuses on getting them to be able to do better on the MCA test. When students don't do well on the MCAs, the school is required to provide funding for students to get extra help.
