Good company with some bad apples

Pros

This company has a lot of positives. For one, the people here are generally great to work with—talented, helpful, and genuinely collaborative. The projects are also very engaging and provide ample learning opportunities across various domains, which is one of the reasons many of us stay despite challenges. The benefits package is competitive and does a lot to show that the company values its employees.

Cons

Unfortunately, there is a serious issue with the management of the PMO. The person in charge has created a toxic environment, acting in a way that feels self-serving and dismissive of team morale. We’ve lost several high-performing team members due to her leadership style, and many have tried to voice their concerns to HR. However, HR and upper management have seemingly turned a blind eye and continue to support her, leaving those who speak up feeling ignored or sidelined. This dynamic has led some excellent employees to resign, which is a significant loss for the company. The lack of accountability at this level is deeply concerning and detracts from the otherwise positive aspects of working here.

Pros

They’ll make you feel real special at first while they keep you on contract month to month to avoid paying benefits. If you can put up with the constant patronizing so they don’t have to hire actual employees you *might* get a permanent offer.

Cons

Extremely disorganized with handling important procedures, especially compliance and handling sensitive payment information. Management is so checked out and so many things fall through the cracks- but will ultimately pass the blame onto employees under them when issues arise due to their incompetence. Additionally with restructuring, random work from other departments is being dumped onto admins with extremely limited training- especially with the accounting team who is offshore and unable to communicate their needs regarding the work they had us doing for team. Contract workers also are not given access to trainings and references on company site since they are not technically employees, but are held to the same standard as permanent employees who do have access to said resources- creating an inequitable environment. Efforts to bridge the gap of knowledge by collaborating with on-site managers of the offshore team who were willing to help were met with disinterest. Argo has a reactive approach to everything. Just overall toxic. Contract workers are not converted unless they agree to take on additional tasks from other departments in the future with no information is provided about what the nature of that work will be. General inquiries of what the nature of that work in your future scope may be gets you labeled lazy and insubordinate. When employees are let go, multiple reasons are given to different people as to the nature of their departure creating doubt and uncertainty amongst remaining employees. Overall not something to be treated as more than a stepping stone.
