Pros

Job Security, better than average pay, and unbeatable benefits!!! Working in a position that I can actually fight for what I believe in and protect the freedoms that we enjoy on a day-to-day basis. Job satisfaction that no other job can compare to. Truly feel that I am a part of something that is greater than the individual and each individual is genuinely committed to during their best as a team. An absence of hypocrisy and back stabbing that I saw in the corporate world. Leadership and education opportunities that is unheard of in the corporate world. A support system that is truly their for you.

Cons

Time away from the family for long periods of time. Working in environments that are inherently dangerous and hostile.

Pros

Good experience for civilian career and possible TS/SCI clearance that can not be obtain individually. It is only 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer, with possibilities of deploying to Iraq. Able to serve your country part-time and gain leadership training. Good signing bonues in a time of war with savings plans.

Cons

Uncertain when you may be called or deployed. It is difficult to get health coverage unless you are doing active-duty time, but possible. Having to do 1 weekend of month can sometimes get in the way of other plans, but it must be done.

Pros

If you like the idea of working on F-16s everyday, then this is the job for you. As an aircraft mechanic (crew chief), you are in charge of the aircraft and assist aircrew (pilots) when they come out to fly the jet. The job can be difficult at times just as any job can, but it also has its rewards.

Cons

Working outside in the heat, cold, wind or rain does get old after a few years. As a crew chief, your work schedule is governed by the flying schedule, so it is necessary to be flexible. Having said that, there are two shifts that for the most part follow their scheduled shift hours.
