Asana reviews

This review specifically pertains to the revenue team. In the last year or so, the ugliest, most avaricious and nakedly cruel management culture I've encountered in my 15 year career has taken hold. Politics and nepotism abound, high performers get put on PIP for minor solvable issues, and the new CRO has accelerated this. Most of the team knows they're one wrong move away from being "disappeared" as one of my former colleagues put it. A few words will be spoken about how someone is "no longer with us" and that they care how you feel about it, with just enough malevolence and insincerity to remind you that you could be next. As a result, Asana has the highest-stress work environment imaginable, boiler room type stuff. Seemingly good people will turn on you in a heartbeat. You'll work 50-60 hour weeks regularly, your time consumed by customers not for sales but because Asana keeps cutting the staff that know enough to help them. If you're lucky, you'll get close to making quota by ripping & running dozens of small deals and upgrades, because there's no real process or organization behind our sales motions.

Asana has a great marketing team that has painted a picture of a company that isn't doing that much but appears in the media as this incredibly diverse and inclusive company that is saving the world. In reality, the product is just okay - nothing groundbreaking. The company is well funded and the co-founders have a great pedigree. Everyone knows that eventually, Asana will go IPO and until that time comes they're creating an illusion of "working". Projects get started and then lost in the universe because they don't matter. No one has answers to your questions - because no one actually knows where things live and what processes are, etc. Long story short - if you're looking for a workplace where you can come in to meditate, drink green smoothies, and sit in meetings all day then Asana is a great place for you! But if you're eager to learn and grow your career I would recommend going somewhere else. And as to their diversity and inclusion efforts - as a very "standard" person I felt completely out of place.
