Pros

Company Discount 20%, enhances your automotive knowledge, builds basic foundation for customer service jobs.

Cons

No opportunity for advancement, low pay for manager title, PSM is still required to work registers, sweep, and do associate level work.

Pros

Very good employee discount. Store manager that tries to take care of employees and helps with requested time off when submitted in a timely manner. Great people to work with and awesome regular customers. Fulfilling when helping a customer with a new project with advice and valuable short cuts to complete the job correctly.

Cons

If you don't sell enough check out challenge( enough of the fuel injector cleaner already ) or add on's A.K.A. Witt you are facing a verbal or written corrective action. You are required to have a dress code that will cost you at least one hours pay per shirt every four months, due to battery acid, we don't have the time to don an apron before handling every battery that comes in. Training new and existing employees on current procedures and operating systems. District manager blankets stores with criticism instead of the stores that consistently perform poorly. No incentive for good performance, just not being written up. Your told to watch for shoplifters, yet there's only two people for customers ( counter and phone ) it's impossible. Customer satisfaction requires trying to keep the customer coming back and taking care of their concerns, but if it cost the company to much money then you shouldn't have done that. Yet, you should have handled it, short of fixing their car for them or telling them there's nothing you can do someone's not going to be satisfied . Way to many reports that micromanage employees, it breeds negative feelings and resentment in the store level. Customers expect you to erase " check engine light " codes and if you don't they get more than upset, even if it's against state regulations. Branch, district, regional and on up managers get bonuses.

Pros

Helping customers to choose the correct parts for their vehicle, and sharing automotive knowledge with people in need.

Cons

Lack of respect from the Store, District, Divisional and even the Corporate Managerial and Support Staff. Hours being cut by anywhere from 5 to 65 percent to satisfy the budget needs of the District, Regional, and Divisional Managers at quarterly and annual bonus review times. Being told by the Trainer for the region I work in "that people on the store counters are disposable like tissues to this company".
