Pros

The only pro in my position, is that I was trusted to complete my work on a day to day basis. I was not micromanaged at all. Otherwise not a lot of pros in this position/company.

Cons

Upper management doesn’t really care about their employees overall Job security is non existent Not much work/life balance “Start up” being used as a fancy word the company can use to explain away the major mistakes they keep making, even though the company is no longer a start up

Growth over structure

Pros

Great if Your upper management Great for the lazy. There is no guidelines on how to succeed in your role , and your manager is going to change enough it doesn't really matter if you work hard or not.

Cons

There is a huge lack of structure since the company's emphasis is on growth, causing many positions to be added with no real direction for what that role will be. They talk about advancement opportunities but I have yet see anyone grow other than those already in upper management, which is crucial mistake if you want solid growth because you should want upper managers who have experienced the smaller roles to be able to truly create efficiency and improvements. Several people have left due to this. Getting information is a PAIN. Any question I've asked gets ignored or told to ask someone else. IF I get a response (and a big if), its often "why don't you already know this???" Departments do not talk to each other about vital information that impacts one anothers day to day.

That may be the first time we've ever heard the word "lazy" in reference to our people, let alone that we've cultivated an environment that would benefit anyone that wasn't heavily motivated and driven. Here at AvantStay, there is only room for people who want to put their thumbprint on a growing endeavor -- it is a performance-driven environment, so one of the only things that doesn't change is how hard we work. Regarding communication, this is always something we're focusing on especially in a remote-first environment. We appreciate your feedback.

Be on the lookout for red flags!

Pros

Good business model: take on a long-term lease, rent it out on a short term basis. People in the office work hard.

Cons

Disorganized, and duplicitous work. Compensation is below market. They enter unfavorable leases with homeowners, which makes it difficult down the line, you can only cut costs within the business or limit guest refunds so much. Smoke and mirrors from the higher ups, feel like there is never 100% transparency for the people that actually do the lifting and need the direction. IF INTERVIEWING: ask about compensation early and make sure they stick to it or you walk away. If you do get hired, make sure you have a backup plan, for if "things don't work out"
