Pros

-LacJolla is a nice area to work at. -Little micromanagement.

Cons

-Everyone in this company look like they have the life sucked out of them. This place is as dry and dull as corporate gets. -Awful training. There really is no training plan here. Your going to grow as much as the effectiveness of joe your boss trains you. If you’ve got a bad boss, you’re done from the start. -Extremely low pay. Don’t be fooled by false promises of raises and bonuses for high marks. You will make peanuts here so you might as well go to a competing company, virtually all of them will pay more.

Good opportunity, poor culture

Pros

- Learn a lot within a short time frame, which is nice for future job opportunities - Some managers want to see you succeed and are willing to help you achieve your goals - Good work/life balance

Cons

- No remote work. Like other people have said, as an online only bank, why do employees have to report in office? Most team meetings are over Microsoft Teams anyways so there's no point in paying for office space. - Terrible COVID response. Had many positive cases but still had to report in-office. No supplemental pay if you have COVID - you have to use PTO or sick time, which is awful considering we have no option to work remote. - Spyware installed on computers to track key logs as a measure of productivity. What about meetings or reading over docs? Productivity should be tracked by performance and how quickly things are getting done, not by key logs... CEO was open about this too, so you can find the article online. - Favoritism by management - Awful compensation that's way below the industry average. 401(k) is matched in stock and doesn't fully vest for 6 years. Bonuses are half cash and half stock, which also doesn't fully vest for 3 years. - Meritocracy culture isn't really a meritocracy because length at the company takes priority over high performance.

We're proud of our culture, which has been instrumental to making us one of the most innovative financial services providers in the United States. We realize that our culture isn't for everyone, and we're comfortable with that. A word about our compensation packages: they're a key part of how we cultivate our meritocratic culture. By not setting an upper limit on bonuses, we can reward performance that goes above and beyond. To put it another way: our team members get out what they put in. As you've probably seen elsewhere on this forum, we strongly believe our best work happens when employees are together. The office environment provides opportunities for collaboration and spontaneous interaction that simply can't happen virtually.

Pros

You might meet some nice people if you're lucky

Cons

Company shows complete lack of distrust of their employees and does not care about their well-being at all. Worst Covid-19 response ever. I've seen plenty of senior management walking around without masks on. Also, if you have health issues and want to work from home, don't think you'll get the opportunity because they will just procrastinate and hope you never bring it up. Management is not transparent about anything and lacks the basic communication skills. They will be rude and condescending and try and guilt trip you into staying instead of saying they are sorry to see you go and wishing you well. Company also doesn't take any accountability, but would rather point fingers. They will say they are hiring a lot, but forget to mention it's because the attrition rate is so high. In my short time at Axos, I've seen at least 8 people quit because of how unfairly they are treated. Company also fails to understand the difference between challenging and fast-paced environment vs unreasonable and unrealistic expectations. You will not be paid well and your hard work will go unnoticed. They also will not care if your health deteriorates due to the high level of stress. So think wisely before joining.

At Axos, we recognize that our most important asset is our team members, and we reward individuals on the basis of their achievements. Ours is a culture that challenges team members to perform at their highest level. Among the many ways we recognize positive contributions is by featuring profiles in our monthly internal newsletter of team members who embody the bold, disruptive spirit at the heart of Banking Evolved. The majority of positions we're hiring for this year are NEW positions, which speaks to our growth. We hope you're able to find a better fit.
