Pros

Pension is nice. Not a whole lot of that around anymore. Buildings are pretty and have nice landscaping. They also, at my workplace offer free parking!!

Cons

Require a 6 day work week totaling 40 hours. No quality of life. I was told this is what is best for the bank, what about me, your employee? Sales goals go up, commission goes down. "The bank that defines great customer service", this is NOT so. BMO only cares about sales. They really care less about the customer unless you bring us all of your money. Once we have your money, you are then a #. You are nobody. POOR technology, promises of updates that never come. Always changing the rules, no consistency. As an employee, they definitely do not care about you. Good luck requesting time off, there are not enough employees to cover you absence. The bank runs on a skeleton crew ALWAYS, every branch. EXTREMELY micro-managed. SalesForce, a micromanagement tool, is used to track every breath you take. Management tells you to falsify input into this system. That will give you insight to the ethics at BMO Harris. Heed my warning.

Pros

Solid bank. Lots of paid time off. Decent computer systems to work on. Ok benefits. Ok training. Opportunity for advancement.

Cons

Notified HR of shady management practices when I left. Retaliated by delaying my pay 2 pay cycles. There is so much gaming and unethical practices it feels like a dirty place to work. Incentive pay is extremely delayed and the incentive program was cut in half and they will find any way not to pay you. Threaten to fire you if you don't game the system and fake your numbers.

Pros

I have nothing positive to say.

Cons

The merger of BMO Harris Bank and M&I (Marshall & Ilsley Bank) was a very traumatic and disorganized affair. Many clients were lost due to the transition from M&I to BMO. My job (after 12 years) was eliminated in August 2014.
