Pros

BaseCamp Franchising is an amazing company to work for. It opens the door to great levels of knowledge about the franchising industry. No matter which department you work in, you will likely get to collaborate with the founders, executives, and many other departments. Although there are challenges and stresses, which come with working for any franchise company, the experience and knowledge you gain from working at BaseCamp Franchising is irreplaceable. Working with franchisees who have invested their lives into their business that is struggling can lead to tough situations and conversations. However, BaseCamp encourages their employees to problem solve, think outside of the box, execute innovative strategies, and make a difference in the industry and people’s lives.

Cons

High stress. Franchisees are very demanding, especially with the way retail is declining. The company cares deeply about franchisees success and everyone works very hard, but this can lead to high stress.

Great Place to Grow

Pros

Great team, flexibility, and the actual job can be very rewarding. Because the company is still growing, you often perform tasks and responsibilities that you may not have gotten to do at a larger company where responsibilities associated with a position are more rigid. The company will also develop you if they find that you are talented at something other than your job, or if you express interest in learning something that you’ve wanted to try. I have never regretted my decision to work here

Cons

No paid sick or personal leave. If you are ill you have to use PTO days. Somewhat rigid time clock structure. Growing pains as the company continues to expand and teams find themselves short staffed in comparison to the workload. The business is family owned, which makes internal communication and accountability tough to come by, but also means greater accessibility to upper level management and the decision makers when needed.

Great Place to Make A Difference

Pros

Because Basecamp is so small, it is much easier to really contribute and make a difference. I found this to be extremely rewarding in my time at Basecamp. I had autonomy in many of my decisions and made real, positive changes. Owners are actively working to create a positive company culture.

Cons

Family-owned, so there are 'too many cooks in the kitchen.' Nepotism and favoritism has been a big hiring issue; leading to some employees not being qualified to do the job. Because the company is small, expect to wear many hats. Employee benefits and salary are less than ideal, but did improve during my time.
