Pros

* The work is really rewarding, if you love kids, this is great. You get to see the difference you're making, and you get paid to play! * Mileage reimbursement. You get reimbursed for driving between sessions, which means an extra $100 a month. * Flexible schedule. You can move your sessions around if you need to, for doctors appointments and things. And you have the option to work extra sessions in your free timeslots to get extra $

Cons

* Staff morale is wicked LOW right now. A bunch of staff have quit lately and me and another are thinking of leaving. There's one or two bcba supervisors who seem good but the higher ups running the region are making things bad. They don't listen to you, they aren't subtle about gossiping to each other about us, their not approachable beyond simple problems with kids, and they can be very hypocritical at times. It is a toxic environment, and this is the biggest con right now. * Fee for service isn't great, especially if you rely on your paycheck each week. Your going to get cancellations, there's no avoiding it (especially when it snows, flu season, family vacations). If your lucky you can do a session with another kid but if you get to a house and they no show, your out of luck. Another review claims there is plenty to do (retention, make a book etc) but that's not how it works. You have to request retention, and if you get approved, you probably won't get the number of hours you're down. The work life balance is not good. * Staff training is not good. Orientation will cover the basics, then you get 90 days to seed with other staff. There's no training guide, no procedures to make sure you learn everything, and half the time your with another staff who wasnt trained enough either. This makes it really hard, especially when alot of the staff do this different and you can get in trouble for doing things the 'wrong way' even if it's how you were told. * You need to get several bags of your own toys, you don't get reimbursed for this. Cleaning them will take away some free time each week

Pros

Flexible schedule, great children and families, BCBA supervision hours, sick time.

Cons

Hourly rate, lots of travel, lots of outside work that you don't get paid for (reports, graphs, shopping for toys, etc). Large gaps in schedule where you have 1-3 hour unpaid breaks, difficult to get full-time hours in schedule. Your paycheck may not necessarily reflect your experience and credentials. No PTO so its extremely difficult to take time off for yourself. Also you don't get paid when parents cancel sessions. They make you sign a non-compete contract that restricts you from working with children 0-5 yrs anywhere in MA and surrounding for 1 year after leaving..

Pros

Large, well established company. This company is not going to be laying anyone off. They are aggressively expanding in an attempt to dominate the ABA services for autism market.

Cons

From a BCBA's perspective, management is overwhelmed. They think they are skillful at organization behavior management, but they're actually just bullies. Strident, obnoxious, power crazed describes management best. They are actually unethical with their direct service staff, denying signing off on supervised fieldwork supervision if per diem staff don't accept assignments. Worst employment experience ever!
