Pros

Great product that is, if well positioned and backed with better organization, could go into hypergrowth Clean office Always recruiting  Positive contributions to community Extracurricular opportunities available Unlimited PTO and free snacks/drinks Free lunch provided weekly Lots of great and friendly people

Cons

-Go-to-market disorganization and what seems like ambivalent middle management obstruct success with little signs of improvement in sight - Marketing and sales departments are completely isolated from each other - Sales quotas are consistently provided late into months/quarters, leading to manipulative tactics. No company I have ever worked for has provided November’s quota on November 26th. - Presidents club trip cancelled 1 month before planned departure with no reason other than ‘budget’ provided, even after attainment year had ended in the companies interest - Leadership has completely lost control to certain individuals, who now control/rule creating a negative atmosphere - Management shows no interest in fixing major issues, is increasingly unappreciative of employees and lacks the skills/systems to improve issues which impacts both employees and company performance - Political (if not poisonous) relationships between individuals in different departments causes friction, also leading to unfair advantages and discrimination - Providing feedback (even when its requested) typically causes one to be labelled a nuisance - Lack of training and poor operational processes lead to sales disablement - Extremely high turnover - Pay is not competitive with the Austin market - The company seems to have unfortunately increasingly lost its way

BigCommerce Response

We appreciate your feedback and want you to know that we are making changes. We have grown exceptionally over the last several years and that growth puts strains on the basic operations of quota setting, targets, and tracking. I would have liked to have had the opportunity to address the issues you have seen in the business while you were still here and for you to see the transformation taking place within the organization. We are firmly committed to BigCommerce being a great place to work. For the growth, for the challenge, and as an environment that supports the success of our employees. We agree with you that our employees are our most valuable asset, and as an organization treat every employee with respect and fairness in our evaluation of performance and promotion. We wish you well in your next step and welcome additional feedback if you would like to reach out directly.

Pros

- Most coworkers are nice and pleasant to work with. - If you're one of the few roles that get to travel you sure can milk it (or if you're of importance you can easily violate policy and fly something that is NOT economy)

Cons

- It's clear most of the recruiting/HR team is writing the glowing reviews, about how the company is one of the "Top|Great|Best places to work" however what they don't tell you is you the entire company is spammed by the people team for participation in these surveys for better press - When they first opened the office they lured everyone w/ the whole "we plan on IPO'ing" schpiel. Years later and this is far from a reality AFAIK - FAKE CULTURE!! When you're in an office that doesn't want this and you're trying to force it on everyone it's clear you're doing something wrong. - Some higher-up's only have their title to show off their 'worth' but in reality want nothing to do with the team that they are assigned to direct/manage. - Working intra-office is horrible, especially when "the OG's" act like they don't have to respond to you - PR comes from no-named sources no one knows of. - Benefits aren't as great as some others have said.

Pros

- free lunch - good work life balance - some really smart engineers that are very dedicated to the company success

Cons

- lack of direction - favoritism in engineering leadership: need to be part of the clique in order to get more responsibility or team size - fake culture that promotes a "work family" even though they let people go for no reason without giving them the time to collect their things or say bye to their friends - developer output is measured by number of PRs committed which can be gamed
