Pros

- Cutting-edge technologies - Development process works great and it's taken seriously - Probably one of the greatest companies in the world with such level of technical challenges (comparable to companies like Netflix, Google, Facebook, Uber, etc)

Cons

- Too many management layers that are not necessary - Bureaucracy is increasing due to entropy layers of management - Company values are almost never followed

Pros

Great conditions to allow you to focus on your job: free food (lots of it), good coffee, fun and laid back environment, some great people, flexibility for remote work and flexible working hours, lots of places for informal meetings, outside patio, and regular company parties. Online betting is actually a fun and interesting business to work in. Depending on role, a few trips to London, Dublin and/or Cluj might be included. If you are starting a career and are looking for a place to learn a thing or 2, this can be a good place. Just remember your growth is limited and you won't go past a certain level of accountability. Good for your first couple of career years ...

Cons

This company was originally bought by Betfair and is now part of the Paddy Power Betfair Group. Since the merger (Betfair with PP) that the company became a lot more hierarchical and formal. Loads of processes and middle managers, program managers, project managers, product managers... and more roles that stall any chance to make a difference. What used to be a very innovative, agile and fast company (that is how it got into the top 3 betting company in the UK and why it got merged with PP giant) is now a slow and over processual company. Also, while in the past the Porto office led innovation and had high ownership and accountability in the company's decisions, it is now just a near shore development center with cheap engineers that is expected to develop what people in Dublin says. Top management roles that were owned by Porto employees are now owned by people in the UK. All the past top managers left and most of the middle managers and senior engineers left as well. If you are looking for career growth and to have ownership on what you do, so don't go to Blip / Paddy Power Betfair.

Pros

Blip is a really great place to learn. The community shares in meetings new technologies, work that they have done. People have time for learning and evolve their technical skills, by taking a day just to learn, the ability to go to conferences and also provides online training, etc. They value everyone's opinion, I think anyone can step ahead and speak without being ignored. I see managers listening to the engineers opinions when taking really important decisions on a daily basis. The culture intrinsic in Blip is very good, and I've never for once regretted to wake up and go to work. The company provides food although it pays the food allowance. It also provides teams budget which is awesome, amusements for the people to relax and parties. Overall Blip is a great company.

Cons

Blip now is a big company, and, of course, with that comes some adversities. The development pace is very high and some people may feel over pressed. Change is constant and sometimes that is bad.
