Pros

It was a paying job with benefits.

Cons

Too top heavy. I have never seen so many directors and VPs without staff. It's supposed to be lonely at the top. The problem with this ice cream cone (vs pyramid) structure is the company has to find ways to pay the bloated salaries and bonuses to all of these people. The result is people at the lower levels suffer with lower than market wages and benefits and no bonus opportunities even when the company is doing well. The result is the better people leave.

Pros

Good coworkers are the only thing that's kept me here this. Flexibility with schedules

Cons

Poor management. This company runs on a very old school "it's always been done this way" mentality. POOR RAISES. Everyone gets the same terrible 1% raise every year, no matter their performance. My rich, old, white, male boss actually told me while giving me that 1% raise "eh cost of living doesn't matter." And this management grinds their good workers into the ground, expecting them to pick up the slack from the bad workers. Lots of passive aggressiveness from leadership, rather than disciplining the bad employees, they send out a passive aggressive email to everyone.

Thank you for your comments. Boyd Gaming values all of its team member. Unfortunately, organizations cannot always meet the expectation of employees when it comes to compensation. Boyd Gaming values its team member and strives to offer a competitive wages and benefits.

Pros

friendly and loyal co-workers guests come because of the employees who are very friendly

Cons

1. Though Boyd met the minimum wage requirement of NV state, the annual increase in health insurance is eating a big slice of my pay, There is no incentive pay increase unless the state of NV demands so, 2. I do not know if Boyd is under-hiring but is constantly short on staff . When they do hire, new hires usually leave for better opportunities. They tend to forget their employees who have stayed with them in the long haul when it comes to promotions and pay increase.

Boyd Gaming is constantly reviewing its compensation and benefits program to ensure we are relevant within the market place and that we are meeting the needs of our team members. As an organization, we strive to provide a wide range of benefits that meets the needs of our diverse population. Boyd Gaming values our long-term team members and their commitment to our organization. We strive to recognize and reward our team members in unique ways. Finding a compensation and benefits package where one size fits can be a complicated task to achieve. That is why at Boyd Gaming we make our benefits accessible for all while ensuring that cost sharing is spread across the organization. Similarly, the same is true for hiring, although it seems like there is a hiring freeze. There is not. The job pool is shrinking and it is becoming harder and harder to find quality team members. That is why we offer a team member referral program to attract the best team members possible at certain properties. If you know good people who are looking for work, please encourage them to apply. Make sure they put on their application that you referred them.
