Pros

The potential for growth within a top accounting firm in the state is attractive

Cons

Training was short and sweet. B&R does offer an intern program that will allow you to be more familiar with software prior to training

Pros

B&R has a flexible work environment and encourages specializations and growth within the firm. They have an awesome CPE program that allows employees to easily obtain required CPE credits. They continue to improve their business model year after year (communication, education, etc.).

Cons

When working in a smaller office, there aren't as many mentors available to help with professional and accounting growth. Communication isn't always consistent, but is improving.

Pros

Boyer & Ritter offers some great central PA locations to work at. The travel involved is much less frequent and less time than Big 4, but the pay is comparable. Schedules were pretty flexible, just needed to complete the work.

Cons

I thought training was really lacking. The firm made some efforts to do firm-wide training, but the training was done by Seniors and probably should be done more by Managers or employees with a lot of experience. Seldom was a co-worker able to fully explain a task at hand if it was outside the routine tasks like walk throughs and bank reconciliations.
